I recently returned from a hunt on the Brush Country Bow Hunting Ranch owned by Maurice Chambers, just outside of Hondo, Tx. We have day lease hunted this ranch for seven years so we are no strangers to Maurice himself; however, during this trip after the third hunt Maurice enformed us that we would be unable to shoot White tail does, but we would be able to shoot exotic does in place of our white tail buck. That would have been fine if we would have been seeing exotics. The white tails were everywhere. The reason we believe we were not able to shoot white tail does was because in the past we have always done well at this ranch. IF we would have known we were not going to be able to shoot white tailed does before the seven hour drive and the $700 dollars to hunt there we would have not gone to begin with, and to top it off Maurice did not tell us this until after our third hunt. Just letting all of you know this so that you don't have the same experience we did. I have been told by many people that Maurice is a business man and cares nothing about getting his customers deer. Guess I didn't realize this until after hunting seven years on his ranch. There were eight guys on this hunt and we did bring home 8 animals. Dont think Maurice expected that, nor did he like it! So if any of you know of a better ranch, Let me know because i will not be returning!
