I just got my hunting permit and was curious if anyone's had any luck this year? I'm looking at units 6-13 so I can use a shotgun.

I am not far from there at all - next to Ray Hubbard, but never hunted Lavon. We have hiked the northern part of Ray Hubbard now that it is so dry and there is hog sign everywhere (and gator too).

Lavon and Lewisville are both full of hogs. The problem hunting them is that many people poach them. I say poach because they illegally set up permanent stands and feeders. Some days you will see tons of people out there hunting and then there will be weeks when you will be the only one there. It is very hit or miss. If you do your scouting and no one illegally poaches them, they can be easy to pattern and bag. Every time I had them patterned, I would go out and some poacher would have a feeder and stand up. And no, I am not going to stoop to their level and set up my own or use theirs.

I know a couple guys on this forum and fishing forum that have hung feeders/stands. I also know a guy on this forum that took down their stand/camera and brought it home with him. When I got my last permit for Lewisville, I talked to one of the park guys and he said he takes down many feeders/stands/traps each year. He said they throw them away, but didn't say where......I am thinking he threw them away in the back of his buddy's pickup, lol

Scouting is key, they move around a lot in there. Let's go chase 'em sometime...

Wolverine, I live just outside of Terrell and would love to hunt hogs around Lavon. Guess you have to get a permit from the Corp?
