Thats right boys...its all your fault that i just picked up a brand new Daniel Defense 6.8 rifle for some hog killin'! I mean, i was perfectly happy with my AR10 .308 caliber hog smacker. (Or so i thought) Sure, the thing was heavy...but boy did it put the hogs down! Ya know, the more i thought about it...having two thermal scopes and only one hog killin rifle just made no sense. So you guys were sweet enough to say such nice things about this 6.8 SPC...i couldnt stop myself from getting one! WOOT WOOT! Picked up 3 boxes of the Hornaday 120 gr SST and will sight it in with one of my scopes tomorrow and then going to do some hunting with Bob Wednesday and Thursday.
Ok, that is all...

I'm getting parts together for a sweet 6.8 build as we speak .... I've had probably 4-5 different rifles in this caliber . I've never been disappointed by it . Have fun !!!!!

Revoman...what thermal scope are you waiting Optics Planet o get back in stock?
Tannerlst...i was amazed at how little the recoil was this morning when sighting it in. Looking forward to seeing the damage it does to a neck shot to a hog. He he he!
Miket1...ok then, i don blame you! lol
Target1911...Truth be told, i almost pulled the trigger on your 6.8 you had for sale. However, when i opened the thread to send you a PM, it said it was SPF! Thats what i get for waiting until i got back from my business trip!
Vern1...im new to the forum and never even heard of the 6.8 as a hog round. Looks like i have some catching up to do!
One thing i wanted to run by you guys that i felt was pretty cool while sighting in my new toy today: So i installed the thermal scope on the rail where i felt it was the most comfortable. Set up a target and taped a hand warmer to a cardboard box so my thermal would pick it up. Walked out 30 yards, and fired off two rounds back to back. Both rounds hit within 1/2" of each other and about 2" to the left and 2" low. ( i only went 30 yards to start to make sure i had hits on paper) im surprised i was so close...i walked the target out to 70 yards and then adjusted my windage only. Fired 2 more rounds and the windage was perfect and so was the elevation! I fired 5 more shots at the same 70 yards...and all 7 in total were within 3" of each other on target. Not perfect, but considering the hand warmer was like a dot in my thermal scope...im ecstatic!
Question: i assume the reason why the shot was 2" low at 30 yards and perfect at 70 yards without adjustment is because the bullet is rising out of the barrell? If its dead on at 70 yards...how far do you think it stays there before it drops? (Approximately of course) Im using Hornaday 120 gr. SST
Thanks all...a whole bunch!
Robert

The new FLIR RS32, nobody has them yet. FLIR should be getting them out with in the next couple of weeks. Also have a can in the works for the 6.8. Hogs won't have a chance around here day or night next season.

Greetings, Go to 68forums for tons of info on this round. The movers and shakers of the 68 world live there and there is tons of info on the round, reloading, etc.
I've never shot a single factory round out of any of my 6.8s, just handloads. For long range, the 85gr TSX is great and flat shooting. I use the 95gr TTSX and 120gr SST bullets for most of my pig hunting. The 120gr SSTs primarily due to them being less than half the cost of the TTSXs. And mostly hunt at night with a N750 and Photon 5X.
