I've never hunted that area of Rusk County but I've hunted Rusk County my entire life. If you are moving to hunt East TExas after hunting pretty much any area of the state you will likely not like it much. We have some great deer but it's near impossible to connect with one. Where I hunt we used to have lots of deer but the current bag limits have wiped them out. Still see some deer but not near the numbers we did in years past. I can literally sit 3 hours on my lease in West Texas and see more deer than I will see in East Texas in an entire season. If you have the patience to hunt here it can pay off big though.

I never thought I would see east Texas leases nearing $20 per acre. If I were you I would take my money and go the other direction but that's just me.

One born every minute. Probably thinks he got a heck of a deal.
If you do your homework, you can find places a LOT cheaper. Me and my brother lease this one 75 acre place for $3 an acre and it's a hell of a place. It's also next door to a GW, so we don't even have to worry about poachers.
