Fished Canton lake pond with THFer "naparat" since they had stocked the trout a few days ago. We caught a lot of trout and had a lot of fun, but one we caught was kind of strange. I is a trout, but its both yellow and kind of deformed. Anyone seen one like this before.

Put some cornmeal on it and fry it up and it will taste the same as the other.

A guy did that on the Brazos back in the 90s for huge striper, it worked great until the Game Wardens found out about it.

Looks like a deformed Albino Brook trout.

That is a Golden Rainbow. They stock them quite a bit up in WV.. Nice thing about them was the fact that you could see them in the rivers. Bad part was some just would not bite. That one obviously have a rough time early in its life.

The albino trout are fairly common with farm raised trout like they use for stockings in Texas. In the wild, they would have been eaten. But in a fish farm, the only thing that eats them are the occasional osprey and similar birds that dive the holding ponds. When they release the trout below PK Dam, you can sometimes see birds dive down and grab those albinos because they are easy to spot in the water. That one you caught looks a little messed up.

The golden/albino trout that show up in the trout stockings are Palomino Trout which is just a hatchery created color phase of a Rainbow Trout. I have caught them in Colorado before as well as other odd looking deformed fish out of the stockers. Never a deformed palomino trout though. The forest service in Colorado said it is rare to catch a big one because as Toxarch said, they easily get picked off from above.
Old picture from flyfishing on a reservoir in Colorado several years ago. I remember it was very cold, but fish where jumping in the dark all over the place like crazy, so we kept fishing. I remember too, I actually saw this fish in the moonlight before I caught it.
