I wouldn't plan on killing very many canada geese in SETX.

Where are you trying to hunt specks? Rice field, reservoir, etc?

I can count he number of canada geese I've seen in SE TX on one hand...without using my thumb.

Not saying they aren't here though.

If I was going to really get into goose hunting then I'd start investing in full bodies.

Speck floaters and full bodies, along with a whole mess of silosocks (like 10 dozen, mostly snows). Most specks are killed of snow goose spreads.

My dog snores.

Are these specks feeding quite often in this field or are you just in a high traffic area?

I hear Canadians are real fond of red, plaid and flannel.

If I were in a high traffic area, I would want to have at least 10 dozen goose decoys out. Like duckboy said, snow goose decoys will work great but I'd also have several dozen speck decoys out too. If you need someone to join you I've got plenty enough snow goose decoys!

5 dozen sillosock specks and 5 or more dozen snows. Put them in a sillosock cube bag, easy to carry. Get a speck call and learn to at least make single clucks.

First thing is first.

If you scout the field and are hunting early season, you will mainly see specks there. This being said, feel free to use nothing but dark rags. Some white ones won't hurt anything. But when mixing, make sure they are seperate. As season goes on and more snows are showing up, feel free to use more whites. Again, put your darks to the side or wherever you want them.

Put out whatever you can. I usually AT LEAST throw 400 silos and rags. If I got a lot of guys, you best believe we're putting out more.

I wouldn't waste your money on full bodies in the rice, been there, done that.

Only time it's nice having some full bodies is when you're hunting around water, or if you're duck hunting and may be able to catch a speck or two.

I usually hunt in a tear drop formation, but do change it up if need be. Having more guys really helps if a change is ever needed.

I'd actually set up a snow and speck spread. The canadas you get would be mixed in with them. I've hunted geese quite a bit in south and south east TX and probably only got one or two canadas at a time at the max. I don't remember seeing flights of canadas...just mixed in with snows or specks.

Oh and people are messing with you because it's canada geese not canadian. The people making fund of you probably were made fun of you in the past for making the same mistake. Pretty harmless and easy mistake to make and in the big picture everyone knows what you are talking about. It's kind of like how some people are annoyed if anyone uses the term clip when they mean magazine and they have to geek out on everyone that you got the terminology wrong.
