I know what they say 45 for the stoping Power but 9MM has more rounds so what I want to know is which is better for all the other categories?

If it's purely a concealed carry, go .45 IMO. If you intend to spend a lot of time shooting it at the range, I'd go 9 for cost of ammo, and lower recoil in that small package. 9mm with self defense ammo should do what you need it to.
I'm assuming capacity wise, it's a 1 or 2 round difference.

my suggestion is see if you can try both out at a range and see which you are more comfortable with
I havent fired either but I know larger powered rounds in small packages can get jumpy

9 all the way. Easier to shoot, extra capacity, and terminal ballistics are almost if not the same with modern defense ammo.
And XDS 9mm has a better trigger than the 45

Compromise and go with a .40 It's all personal preference. I'm no help. I like both, but between the two would opt for the 9mm

9mm. More capacity, easier to control, cheaper ammo.

I carry a 9mm IWB. More rounds was my deciding factor. 7+1 in the factory mags.

Love my .45 XDS. For CC it is outstanding, especially since I am a little guy. It is even better at the range than I expected from such a small pistol, but aside from practice with it, I tend to favor full size pistols and revolvers for general shooting.
So I vote .45

I have a 45, my thought process was if the guns have the same external dimensions I might as well go with the bigger caliber. However now I'm considering trading it for a 9 to consolidate calibers with my other guns

The lack of a size difference made me choose the 45. It is my first and only 45 and I was very impressed with the lack of recoil from it. If you have to shoot more than5+1 there is a real big problem but the extended mag 7+1 is easier to hold and solves the lack of ammo problem. I carry it in a crossbreed IWB and its pretty comfy.

Just got an XD-s 9 two days ago and love it. Wife shot it last night and "took ownership" immediately. Looks like I have to get another one.

I'd ask him if he's pregnant. He missed a s__tload of periods. I'll take "things that look like a uterus" for $200 Alex.

I got the 45 a while back and really like it. It shoots great.
SA makes a 4" XDs 9mm now if you're interested.

Bought an xds 9 a couple weeks ago. Very nice pistol, 3 mags and all the normal xd gear. Went with the 9 for the extra capacity and the Dillon press spits it out quick and cheap. The glock 34 likes the ammo also

I just purchased a XDs .45 and love the size. Took it to the range this past weekend and put 75 rounds down it (PDX1 and WWB) and loved it.
Quick tip: Buy from Gunbroker.com and you can find them for $450 NIB which is below dealer cost. Also, if the person is out of state, no sales tax. $25 2 day shipping and a $10-15 transfer fee and you still save $30-50 depending on your tax rate. Of course, F2F saves you even more.
The sights are a bit low for what I am used too so to begin with, I was WAY off but after a bit of adjustment and a few tips from the RO, I was hitting 1" groups at 10yds which is amazing for me.
I will say, you will need grip extensions unless you are willing to adjust your grip technique when using this pistol. I also bought a slip on rubber grip as the checkering really lays into your palm after 50 or so rounds. I also went ahead and bought some MePro sights to help in the low light situations.
Through all of the adjustments, I have only questioned my choice once, until I learned how to shoot this little pistol as I am used to full frame pistols. Once you adjust, or buy the equipment that helps you not have too, the XDs is on point. Also, another little neat fact is that it slips perfectly (barrel, trigger guard) into the change pocket on my jeans so if you have a CHL, you can pretty much carry while picking out a IWB holster (Crossbreed minituck on the way).
