At the range shooting today my gas block came loose. I noticed it when 2 rounds failed to eject. It looks like its a press fit. How do I fix this sucker?

Pictures would help to determine what type of gas block. The standard triangle type is pinned on and I have never seen one come loose or walk the pins.

Need pics for sure. Some are clamp fit, some use set screws and others use pins.

Is it one of those that have set screws on the underside? If so, barrel may need to be dimpled (ever so slightly) so the set screws have something to grab on to. Blue lock tight as well on the set screw threads.

Blue don't take heat all that well. Red is better for a heat situation or even Rockset.

I'd be afraid that the red loctite would be too much. But I'm someone who's always tinkering with my rifles so I take off my gas blocks a lot.

I prefer to use low pro clamp on gas blocks. I haven't ran any of those ARs very hard and haven't had any issues with them coming loose but I'll be adding some blue loctite to them. Won't hurt anything and shouldn't be a pain to remove.

Red is the set it and forget it but I dont want to have to heat it if I ever need to take it off. We use the blue at work as we have had to ruin some expensive parts in order to disassemble them when someone used red loctite.

We also have green bearing retaining compound. That stuff is murder to threads. If you are ever able to move it the threads end up gualling up into a heck of a mess.

I would not use locktite. Get a punch, grind it to a dull point, and stake the screws. Will hold much better that way. Locktite will not take the heat unless you use the permanent stuff.

I have never had an issue with red loctite, just use a heat gun to warm it up.

This works but need to have threads on the block and set screws cleaned of all oil.
