I am thinking about doing a driving day trip around central Texas for a Valentine’s day treat for my wife. I think she would enjoy Fredericksburg for some light shopping & window gazing … but was also thinking about side trips to LBJ/Lady Bird ranch/wildflower center, Luckenbach, Willow City Loop, etc. while in the that area, and/or going to and from. Looking for ya’lls input on other possible suggestions including places to eat or see. We will be going from Georgetown either thru Johnson City or Llano and back thru the other to make a loop of it. I would also consider other towns or locations if ya’ll can think of something else that might be more enticing.

Sorry, can't offer much, just been to Fredericksburg once, and need to bring LOTS of $$, cause 'shopping' there is expansive!

yep, very familar with all those. I worked at Longhorn Cavern & Inks Lake SP as summer jobs while in high school back in the '70s. Great idea on the Eagle's along the Llano river as I suspect they are there this time of year. The Bluebonnet has some of the best coconut cream pie with calf slobbers on top!!! Might be a good dessert spot! Thanks!
keep the ideas coming!!! We will be heading out tomorrow morning ...

Could always stop in Llano at Inmans and get some Turkey Sausage or Coopers. I don't care for Coopers but others do. Stop by Enchanted Rock, Nimitz Museum in Fredricksburg, Mamacitas in Fburg, not quite on the route but Salt Lick in Driftwood.

I agree wholeheartedly on Inmans over Coopers (other than their thick chop). Any German food places that are at or over the top in/around Fburg???

Hill Country Cupboard at 281 and 290 in Johnson City used to have a pretty good chicken fried steak a number of years ago.

Well, plans evolved as we headed west. The wife and daughter recently had a girls trip to Fredericksburg, so she wasn't overly excited about going again so soon. We ended up going thru Burnet, out to Kingsland with short side trip to the Llano slab (one of our old hangouts in HS), Kingsland to the Bluebonnet Cafe in Marble Falls for lunch and cocunut pie with huge calf slobbers. We then headed south and back to the east for a little hike down to Hamilton Pool. Then on down to Wimberley to hit all the little shops till most closed. We headed back home around sunset getting caught in Austin traffic ... finally back to Georgetown for an Italian dinner before getting home. Great day spending time together with scenic drive thru central Texas.
