What are some cheaper breeders around texas and Oklahoma? I'd like to get a elhew or gaurdrail but mony is the big factor. I would like to stay around a hundred dollars but any advice would be appreciated!

The most money you will ever spend on a pup will be your least investment. Buy what you want. Don't study about the cost.

I'm a has been in that area. Chet had a really well bred year old pup for sale a few weeks ago.

Keep looking.

Save your money and buy you a top notch dog...it cost just as much to care of mediocre dog as it does one that's bred from royalty.

You might look at the classifieds in NSTRA.

A hundred dollars may be tough.

Look for some of the rescue groups who specialize in birddogs and take your chances. Pretty low end budget for a quality dog. Never hurts to try.

You will not find what you are looking for in the $100 range. I've had bargain dogs, and chances are, they are not going to work out. You can find what you are looking for somewhere between your target range and $1000. I've had $400 pups turn out as well as $800 pups, but as a rule I've found that that the better blood you buy, the less you will put into training...and good blood is not going to be given away. I am just sayin'

Just thought I would say, As most said, 100 is a little unreasonable for a papered dog, but you may be able to find a cross breed from 2 hunting dogs for about that. other than that your only real option is going to be a rescue. When I was looking, 400 was about the cheapest papered dogs out there and anyone with quality name had a limited registration which I luckily found out before heading out to get one. I don't believe in paying for a registered dog that I can't choose to breed if the dog is fit for it. I ended up with 2 English/GSP pups that are more birdy than I can handle. Wish I could get them some field time, but for now they are going to have to be content on a big back yard and long walks in fields on a lead.

And this is what happens to cheap dogs.
