I am in the Hunt to find a rifle that will suit my needs and wants? I want something Accurate,Reliable but also at a reasonable price since I will have to but a sight on top I want my whole cost to be under 1000. Bolt action with a Caliber of .308 It believe that will take out any hog in my sight. I've done a little research and found a few in my price range. Ruger American Savage Axis Weatherby Vangard 2 Tikka T3 Remmington 700 Howa 1500 What should I Choose I could really used some experienced guiding help

First- welcome! Second- every rifle you listed would do you fine. I would lean to the Tikka T3, personally, as one of the most consistently accurate factory rifles I've shot. Third- Let the Chevy, Ford, Dodge, Toyota debate begin!

Along the lines of what Billybob said...I feel it's a "toss-up" between the Howa and the Vanguard, The Tikka is great and the good old 700 will always be hard to beat. Find the best deal you can get on any one of those and purchase the best optics you can afford with the remaining money in your budget.

No experience with Tikka or the new 700's. However, the Vanguard is really hard to beat.

I have or have had all the models recommended here and all will meet your requirements admirably. My advise, try them all and get the one that fits you the best and has a trigger pull you like.

All good rifles, but the one you like the best.
I really like 4-12X power scopes on high powered rifles for hunting large game. I personally use Leupold scopes, but there are a lot of good scope manufacturers. No need to spend a fortune on optics, but I would stay away from the bottom end stuff.

What do you consider bottom end stuff I've looked at Leupold, Nikon, and Bushnell I am under the assumption that these are all in the middle class

My understanding is Howa makes the vanguard. Hear good things on all but for the money savage IMO is best bang for buck. They look uglier to me but they have shot well against others. The 308 case is great choice whether 308, 7mm-08 (my favorite) and .243. I just prefere short action, but have 270 and 06 that will not give up. Once you find the round you like I agree with Geezer. Find the rifle that fits you. Most folks can't shoot to rifles potential anyway. Get good glass and above all find the ammo your gun likes. I have had really great luck with fusion ammo as my 308 likes it better than gold medal match. I like Rugers with tang safety for hunting and for long distance I like several, but shoot the FN/Winchester 308 When in doubt Remington 700 hard to beat. I shoot mountain light in 7mm08 because you can carry all day. Good luck and enjoy your new rifle what ever it be.

Also observed your question on glass. I have had great luck with Nikon monarch but there are so many good ones. Hawk seems to be a new one that is getting good reviews. Get on optics planet and other sites to see prices and reviews on lots of scopes. Main thing is what is it going to be used for. I use a lot of 3x9 stuff and usually go with Burris, leupold, Nikon. Hard to beat lifetime warranty. I believe red field is made by leupold now. Love those old red fields with the tv view.

if I was in the states and couldn't find a nice mauser, I'd have this and not change anything.... You don't have to spend the world... If this scope won't see what you want to shoot, you don't need to be shooting it.... 700 combo

$1000 to spend...split it 50/50 or 60 gun & 40 scope & rings.
$500/$600 will buy a Tikka T3 blue/syn or T3 SS/syn,& T3 Hunter Grade wood/blue @ $650 all with rings, and $400+ will buy a Zeiss Conquest 3x9, or $500 will get you a lil bigger Zeiss.
Howa makes Wby Vanguards, in a cheaper finish but mechanically the same....buy the VanGuard especially in a wood blue gun...both will prolly need to be floated. Be sure to look at the wieght specs X's all others...? 1/2lb heavier as I recall?
There are IMO better Savages that fit this equasion than an AXIS & more than just several choices depending on your taste in scopes & rings.
Ruger American's run about $3-$350 and allow for better glass, but have a skinny narrow forearm not suited for long range work, but the best of the Bottom End grade shooters IMO. No aftermarket upgrades available. Not necessarily a Silk Purse on a Sow's ear thing to put a Zeiss on an American but....Really?
Bottom end Remmy 700's leave me cold and CDL's are out of reach in this equasion with upper grade glass. IMO Remmy's QC has taken another hit ...again...after this latest buyout by Cerberus.
Winchester M70 Fwt blue/wood can be bought around $$550-$600 @ Sale Prices and worth every penny of it. FN's got their %$#* together IMO.
Ruger 77 Hawkeye same thing as Winnie FWT or Sporter if you want a 24" barrel in a Long Action caliber...but I favor the new FN built Winnies as my 2nd Overall choice and might consider a cheaper grade non CRF Winnie as a compromise but just haven't fondled them enough to say.
So what to buy?...Are you a traditional Wood/Blue guy or a Lite Wt High Tech Synthetic Stock guy? 123: Wood/Blue...Win M70/Ruger 77 w/rings & Wby VGuard, Savage whatever fits you best IMO. 123: Hi Tech & overall 1st choice is Tikka T3 in a SS/syn @+/- $600. 123: Last or Cheapest choice category... Ruger American, Remmy 700. Again JMHO & YMMV...and another vote for a 7-08/260 or 270/280. Ron

your choice it between the wthby and tikk( i left out howa cause you are already buying a cheap wthrby, why get a cheaper on) the rest are ok but the trigger is a crap shoot and remmy can file chapter7 and burn for all i care. I have shot a tikka and was a real shooter, but dont like detachable mags. so my advice is the BY. and spend all the rest you got on glass 4x12 mounted in the lowest possible ring that will clear

WileyCoyote This is very informative and helpful to me I think i narrowed it down to either the Tikka T3 or the Wby VGuard 2.
Now when it comes to glass if I have to wait a few week for more money to roll in i can do that but i don't think i need the top of the line stuff. This is my starter rifle and if enjoy it better than my 12g pump then i will focus more on rifle accessories.
Caliber I want something that is strong enough to take out a hog or deer at a further distance and more accurately that shooting a sabot through my shotgun. I don't reload myself so i don't want to choose some thing that is hard to find on the shelf and when i do find it i don't want to have to pay a arm and a leg to get a box. Recoil i haven't shot a rifle bigger than a 10/22 so it is hard to say what i can handle, but I'm 19 so all my bruises heal fast anyway.
That is the reason I choose .308 I readily see it on the shelves at bass pro and wal-mart so it's an easy find and not to expensive if i should look at something different like a 30-30 or .270 let me know but i want to keep it a bolt action.

I would go with a .270. If there is another gun control scare (and there will be) .308 is one of the first calibers to disappear.

Ask Chad for sure, but all of the bigger than 243 & smaller than a 7RMg calibers will recoil between 15/16 ft lbs and under 20ft lbs...and not be a problem you need to be concerned about. Recoil Issues usually start at over 22-25+ lbs for eager young full sized adults...but it can cause flinch problems if it becomes a worry when you start to pull the trigger. The way a gun fits you is imperative that it be correct to help prevent flinch issues.
I understand about being 10 feet tall and at least semi bulletproof that can leap small buildings in a single bound at 19...got the scars to prove it.
What Tff'boo said about ammo is true during the last SHTF scare, 308 & 223 were the 1st things to dry up since the Tactikool Crowd burns them up by the 250 round case in an afternoon. I do reload, and you will too once you get into CF deer rifles, but I saw the common non AR non Magnum calibers like 25'06, 270 7-08 etc in limited distribtion even at the height of the Panic.
If you were in the Rockies or contemplating going to hunt the Rockies every year for Elk, I might consider a 30'06, but down here in Texas IMO I'd focus more on the 3 calibers I just mentioned with a 270 as my personal choice some 40 years ago. Today that might be a 7-08 instead so FJG would'nt complain that the 270 can't shoot as accurately past 5-600 yards with his 260 or 7RMg's.
These days I have sold off everything to thin the herd down to just 4 shooters, a 260 that replaced a 6.5x55 for no good reason except that it was "pretty" and a great price on a hard to find gun, a 270 T3 SS/syn 'cause I've always had at least one 270 on hand since 1972, a 300WSM that replaced a 300WMG 'cause I've never had one before and needed to spend some bux and trick out the M70 WMg & keep for the rest of my life, or trade it off to cash it out. The 300WSM is a "tweener" caliber, almost as fast as the 300WMg and can be made to shoot almost as slow as a hot 30'06, and a big euro caliber in a 9.3x62 Mauser I wanted to play with that a buddy way older and as badly beat up than I am, said he could shoot one mo bettah than his 375H&H that I was wanting for no good reason except as a toy, that I could not afford to shoot unless I could reload for it...umm call it a oversized 30'06 on ARod strength steroids. Any one or two of these 4 shooters could last me as my only shooters for the rest of my life here in Texas. Your mid sized 7-08 or 270 fits that scheme too.
Pick out a rifle that fits you 1st, then select a caliber that is a do all according to your research, go buy it and never look back or listen to the crickets like me about your choice, unless your caliber of choice does not perform like you think it should on game...just remember bullet placement is everything 1st and Last... so you need to be able to practice relentlesly until Minute of Killing Zone on a WTail becomes 2nd nature to you out to 1-2 then 300 yards from a rest or solid field position. Have Fun Ron

Can't find optics locally then go to Optics Planet on the internet. They have a great selection and good prices. They run good sales and free shipping. Shipping is fast.

Tikka .308
Quality rifle. Cycles well, locks tight, shoots tight, ejects with authority. I've shot lots of full custom rifles, and Tikkas really impress me. After that a good Savage model 10 has served me well for thousands of rounds.
