Being in customer service as I am, it BLOWS my mind at the lack of service some companies give their loyal customers.

I live, breathe and bleed Moultrie cameras, and have for over 10 years, but today is the END for me. I have 11 cameras that I have collected for the years, not including the ones that have been lost, stolen or loaned to friends. 4 of them are the I65s, and retail for $349.99, yes if you shop around I’m sure you can find them cheaper.
I had 2 of them stop working and mailed them in for repair/exchange, did not matter to me at all. On Tuesday, I get a call from a VERY nice young lady Bethany that informs me the 2 cameras cannot be repaired, but would like to offer me a few different options on replacing them with something else and emails a price list.

First of all the “refurbs” cannot be found on their website, so I can compare functions.

I then quickly “google” the models, both new and “refurbs” to find I can buy them CHEAPER online or at Academy, Bass Pro, and Cabelas ect.

I very nicely send Bethany an email with the links showing where a can buy them cheaper than what they are offering, and to please check with management to see what they can do, never mind the fact they get to keep my old ones, that “can’t be repaired” we all know they will be repaired and sold as “refurbs”
This morning, I get an from her stating all they can do is give me a 10% discount, this is still higher than what I can buy them online.

Sorry for the rant, BUT IM DONE!!!!!!

Oh yeah, I have 6 of the solar chargers, $69.99 to $89.99 each and 2 of the wireless modems.

Tell them to send your old cameras back to you.

I have had nothing but bad experiences with their cams. I am surprised you supported them that long.

I own Bushnell. I feel they are the best.

once shame on me, twice shame on me, 3 times just comfortable and don't want to change, 4 times I need my head checked, 5 times, its the last time. From now on, I will go out of my way and pay more not to by their product.

thank you

KS,

I have both the Trophy Cam 8mp and the 5mp. The resolution is high enough on 3mp, that is the setting I use. In other words, I would buy the 5mp's if you can find them. I am not sure why you need the 8 on a game cam. The software is super easy to use as well. The best I have seen.

I also had problems with Ultra HD cards with the Moultrie's and their CS even told me not to use them. I can use any type of card I have in the Bushnell's.

Don't beat yourself up. I appreciate loyalty, even though you took that to an extreme smile

Good luck.

This surprises me. Every experience Ive had with them has been better than expected. I've sent a total of six different cameras in over the years with different problems and have yet to pay for replacement, each and every time they were replaced free and once when I sent a check in to cover the cost the check was sent back in the box with a brand new camera.
On the place we hunt in Mertzon they had five of the same models that the screens went out and I told them to send them in moultrie will make it right. They were sent seven cameras back for $50.

We also use Moultrie and have had the LCDs go out and you can call Moultrie and request just the LCD mechanism. Moultrie will send you the LCD mechanism (my experience was at no charge) and it's really simple to switch them out, without having to send in the camera. Plus, have realized to avoid the LCDs going out, just place a piece of electrical tape over the clear external viewing 'window' and they won't fade/quit.

I wish it was just LED's. Sorry cant remember the exact term she used, but one has a "power" issues with brand new batters (good ones not cheap ones) it just turns off might be five minutes, might be 5 hours, or even 5 day, just randomly turns off. The other will not save pictures to the card, their card, the ones I over paid for from them, because the last time it happened they said I needed to be using "their" card. I'm not a computer guy, but a SD card is a SD card, I understand some are more "cheaply" made but I don't get why I have to have their card but they say I do so I did.

they say that because that is likely the only card they have tested in their cameras, so they can state they they function in their cameras, even though they will all work, they arent willing to say it.

Well......

I got an email from the lovely Bethany this morning, after I emailed her asking for a follow up, she replied stating that they will be sending me "replacement" cameras, same as what I had. Not sure how to feel about this, happy, thankful, satisfied......

I guess I should just be happy and thankful, but in the back of my head I still think, do I really want "replacements" that have a tract record of issues, should it have taken all this to get their attention, are they replacing them because it was the right thing to do, or because I sent them a like to this post.........

I have sent too many cameras back to them over the years. Twice, two year old cameras I sent back "no longer had replacement parts available". Etc. Etc. How about making a better product? So I bought a Bushnell. It worked well for two years before being stolen. I'm not going to buy Moultrie again, not that I had paticularily bad customer service experiences, just tired of cameras breaking so often.

I'm hearing good things about https://www.covertscoutingcameras.com/Code_Black.html.

When the data plans and cameras get a little cheaper, I'll be buying a few. There is nothing cooler than getting game camera pics emailed or texted to your phone during the work week to cheer you up. grin

I actually called cudde back a few months ago to find out if they were going to be coming out with a wireless model any time soon. They called me back and said they had no plans to introduce a model like this in the future. I bet that changes. Everyone will go to them.

Sounds like there are a lot of issues with the Moultries...Based on this thread alone, I wouldnt buy one.

However, I use Bushnell Trophy Cams. I have about 10 of them. Ive been using them for 5 years. I did have one mess up. It was one of the 1st ones that I bought back in 09, believe it was a brown 5mp. It was old and had spent all of 5 days out of 4 years not in the field. It would take a pic every 3-5 seconds at night. Sent it back...2 weeks later, I had a brand new 8MP HD Bone Collector sitting in my mailbox.

1st off...not many issues with the Bushnells. 2nd, great customer service and I never had to pick up the phone and call them. It was replaced all by mail. Just cost me shipping to them.
