If you had to look for a lease, don't have anything but a feeder. No rifle or bow, what direction would you go? Originally thought gun lease would be cheaper. Now thinking bow lease would be best option. At least cheaper. Thoughts?

Personally if you have never bow hunted before then I would start out with rifle. I don't see where you would save a whole lot of money on purchasing a bow instead of a gun. Bows can be pretty pricey as well.

Had now hunted about 10 years ago. Sold the bow tho. Was thinking the lease could be smaller, don't need a blind like I would in rifle hunting, thought it might be cheaper overall.

Why would you need a blind for rifle hunting or a feeder or a scope on your rifle or binoculars? Same can be said for archery also.

Whichever lease is cheaper is cheaper. How much you spend on equipment and gear is a whole different issue. If they are both the same price and you are asking if bow hunting or gun hunting will be cheaper that entirely depends on you.

From what I have seen is you can get a cheap lease with no deer or a more expensive one with deer.

Well what I'm driving at is it seems like bow leases are easier to get. A pop up blind or ground blind possibly. Would be much cheaper than a normal blind etcetera. Just looking for input

Cheaper leases are cheaper for a reason. The cost of the toys that are bought by a hunter depends on the hunter. I can build a blind cheaper than I can buy one. I can hunt out the same blind with a rifle or a bow.

Just looking for input It appears you already know the answers to your own question. You can make either style of lease just as cheap as you want it or as expensive as you want it. You can hunt deer with a rifle from a pop up blind just as easy as you can from a tower blind. If you really want cheap then you could just build your self an old fashioned ground (brush) blind at no expense. As far as bow lease being easier to get than a gun lease I don't know about that. I think they can all be pretty hard to come buy.

If money is the biggest concern, get the bow and hunt public land.

Well here's the issues I'm having. Had been on a lease with the family for years. Hunted off and on. Now that we have lost the lease we lost the blinds etcetera. I have a feeder that's mine but that's it. Last time I hunted anything but birds was about 3 years ago. Seems like I'll be out about 2000 for the lease which is fine. But it's very difficult to find especially when I wanna stay 2 hours or less from Austin and I'm doing it alone. Just trying to not break the bank here.

A couple of different perspectives from a landowners standpoint:
1. Bow hunters are on the land hunting a month earlier than rifle guys. The rest of the year, the LO has his land all to himself.
2. Bow hunting is a conservation measure. They don't take as many deer. A great buck 75 yards out is safe. However, if that LO needs to reduce does or whatever, bow hunters just don't help all that much.
Without a sense of urgency, nothing ever happens.

Bow hunting can be cheaper just for the fact that you can hunt on smaller properties and in areas where populations on adjoining properties make it unsafe for using firearms. There are some landowners that will lease smaller tracts that they would not even consider leasing to gun hunters, thus making them cheaper just because of the amount of land needed to hunt with a bow, and also the amount of land per hunter doesn't need to be as great, and it can still be hunted safely. I hunted a ranch that was bow only for over 16 straight seasons, and I tagged out numerous seasons during that time, and not with the latest and greatest equipment and I've probably spent more money on feed during that time. It's all about what you want to spend, and getting a new bow every other year plus all the other new toys all adds up, and it's not really needed.
Thursday at 12:45 PM #33 Once i learned that i didn't "NEED" to kill something, and that if i did kill something all the fun stopped and work began, i was a much better hunter.

They are more limited to shooting range so yeah less deer are taken but someone whos serious about bow hunting and have to shoot a doe first before a buck will get the job done. Doe to earn a buck has gota be one of the best management rules iv seen yet. I see LO knowing there are a lot more rifle hunters than bow hunters in the state of Tx so if they are wanting to make sure their place stays leased then rifles will be allowed... Iv always wanted to find a bow only lease and said I would pay more for one... so I just ended up buying a place lol.

You'll learn way more as a bowhunter than with a gun if health was still good would go with bow cheaper, first lease got 30-30 sfope & all under $200.00 later found savage .270 with scope for same. back then, credit advisers said wasting money, lease, guns, corn for homemade pvc feeder. We payed our bills, miss bow hunting
