definitely varies between game and methods. a new bird hunter might be more trigger happy than they were chasing big game, and so on...

I might go through all 5 in the same season While others never make past the first few stages in their lifetime. If you attended a Hunter Education course and did not see this, shame on your instructor.

You either hunt for food or hunt for sport, period. And, you either teach the younger generation to hunt for food or hunt for sport. Do you eat what you kill or not? Very simple. And, you can do both as in predator control, although most of us hunt predators for sport or financial gain.

Back in the 70s on my first deer lease in Mills County, it was my goal to fill all 4 deer tags and all 4 turkey tags each hunting season. Falling short meant failure.
Nowadays, I'm almost always going to punch zero-to-one tag, most commonly zero. I've shot enough Texas whitetails. I usually take a youngster or a friend anymore.
Most of my personal hunting is out of state or overseas.
