I need your opinions on which boat is better?
Sea Ark 1860 with Evinrude etec 60 or War Eagle 1754 with 50hp Honda 4 stroke.
Both are tiller models with hydraulic jack plates with rear pods. I will use it for both hunting and fishing. Either boat will have to be ordered. Let's hear your opinions.

Sea ark with the 60. E tech and honda are both good outboards tho. I'd go with the bigger boat and extra horses.

Sea Ark only because I don't like the Honda motors. If I had a choice I would get the War Eagle with either a Evinrude etec or a Yamaha 4 stroke.

Bad experience with Honda motors?

Am I going to gain anything with the jack plate or just install a CMC breakaway plate and use the power tilt and trim?

Absolutely put a jackplate on it, especially if running skinny. You will be able to get better performance out of the boat having the ability to raise/lower the prop in the verticle plane.

Neither boat if you are going to be running any timber, you might want to look at boats made with at least a .125 thick bottom, the bottom of those boats will end up looking like a waffle if you run any timber.
Between the two, not running any timber the Wareagle would be best IMO.

I don't run any timber just skinny water in big lakes and back creeks. No log jumping and very few mine fields.

I make my living in a boat , I would never use either one of the boat/motor combos you mentioned , due to price and poor performance . As for trouble free boats/motor , I run Weldbilt boats with Tohatsu motors , I fish 7 days a week and I have NEVER had a Tohatsu quit for any reason , they just run , I went back to a Mercury sponsorship this year because I wanted a bigger tiller handle motor and Tohatsu doesn't make a bigger tiller motor than a 50 , I went with a 115 Mercury Optimax jet tiller handle for power
Check out the Weldbilt boats with a Tohatsu motor you will not be disappointed and you will save yourself quite a bit of money

Went a put my hands on some seaarks today and really like the 1860 size. They didn't have any of the DXS models there but they look well put together.

I know commerical crabbers that swear buy Honda outboards. I guess its a ford vs chevy thing.

Now with that said, I'd go witht he Sea Ark with 60HP motor.

Either boat is great. SeaArks and War Eagles have been around for a long time. Both are capable duck boats, and both are great in the timber, so I'm not sure what the other poster was taking about. I'm from Arkansas, and there are TONS of war eagle boats running through the timber, as are SeaArks. I can also speak from personal experience, previously owning a 1542 and 1648 War Eagle duck boats. Both had Mercury motors, but performed great. From the two, I like the bigger boat.

One more reason for the bigger boat and motor.

Supposedly this was the opener in AR for one of the WMAs. You're not allowed to go in early, so once its legal to enter, its a boat race.

Well I didn't get either one of those, I ordered an excel f4 viper 1860 with 75 e tec with the .0125 hull. Seaark was a long wait for the boat and couldn't get external pods on the war eagle. So the wait begins.

There is a 25hp max at these WMA's. Go with the 1860. I owned a 1754 War Eagle and it was way low in the back with my 90 on it. Actually sank it at Lewisville one day. That sucked. Both manufacturers are great.

Weldbilt boats are great but they are not built as well as War Eagle or Sea Ark. Not trying to ruffle any featers. Weldbilt are very customizable and much less sticker shock. Tohatsu build Mercurys up to 40hp (4 stroke) My buddy runs a 1860 sea ark with the new yamaha f70. Its a nice boat/motor combo. The f70 is as light as a 2 stroke.

I went with Excel cause I could order the thicker hull and it had the highest horsepower rating for a tiller at 75 hp. I also liked the kik up option vs adding a breakaway plate with a little spring. I also wanted a permenatly mounted fuel cell in the bow of the boat. I was also able to customize the boat the way I wanted it. I will do a full review with it comes in. I ordered it from Genes Powersports in Baytown. They were very patient with my 5000 question and made sure I got the boat I wanted not one that they wanted to sell. They also sell etec and that was the motor I wanted to run.
