Well, my two year old GSP is a pretty good bird finder, stays steady on point BUT chases on the flush. I want her steady to wing, but since I hunt pheasant a bunch, I want her to break on the shot. Any advice on how best to get her steady to wing this coming offseason? Do I just need to focus on Whoa?
I know there are tons of books out there, some of which I have, but am looking for some words of wisdom from those of you with experience with this. Thanks.

A lot depends on the pup. You can do it with the e-collar but it's tough if you shoot the bird yourself. You almost have to give up shooting.
Quail hunting is like walking into, and out of a beautiful painting all day long. Gene Hill

Here's what I do. This is called stop to flush. Meaning bird in the air dog stands still. Start with training the dog to stand still with the check cord and a light tug. Walk the dog around with him in front and lightly tug to get him to stand still. Drop the cc and walk in front of him , around him behind him all while he stands still. If he takes a step pick him up and set him back. When he is doing this gently stroke him as a reward while standing still. When he is solid with the cc overlay it to a light nick with the e collar. Give a light nick then reinforce with the cc Do this until he is standing still with the ecollar. Drop the cc and make him stand still with the nick. All this with no birds around.
Now move onto birds. Plant one or 3 in separate remote launchers spread out. Work the dog on a cc downwind so no scent is involved. Make sure he is looking in the direction of the launcher and about 30 yards away launch the bird. If he starts to chase nick him with the collar to make him stand still. The que to stand still is the bird in the air

Blanked, do you associate this trading with Whoa, meaning do you whoa your dog or do you not mention whoa at all?

No I never say a word. If I need him to stop I knick him. Only if the bird is in the air when hunting
