I have a friend of mine wanting to sell me a Marlin 1894 in 44 mag and was wondering what the value would be? He bought the gun new about 15 years ago and gun is in good shape with just a few scratches on stock. I'm just hoping to get a little input before I commit on his price.

Thanks

Is there a letter after the 1894? Does it have a ported barrel?

They made one that was like a mini Guide Gun that was pretty damn cool. Made in limited numbers.

15 years old will be JM with crossbolt safety, great guns IMO much better than the Remlins of today. Get an account on Gunbroker and look at recent sales, for current pricing.

Round or octagon barrel? The Cowboy models on GB are going for quite a bit..

He said it is a Marlin 1894s. T Bone the barrel is round 20", not a cowboy model. I have a pic that he text to me, but I'm not sure how to post it off my phone. He's asking $600 for it. Im just try to figure out if that's a good price or should I try and bring him down on it. Thanks guys for the info.

600 is about the going rice for a new 1894 in 44mag, 800+ for a new cowboy version. I would rather send 600 on a JM Marlin than 600+tax on a Remlin
