Don't know if anyone else has used Skyraider Arms in Mansfield, but I thought I should share my brothers experience. So about a month ago my brother went in there price shopping for an AR. After getting a quote from them my brother also talked to them about having a gun shipped there from buds guns. They said it would be a $25 transfer fee and that they do business with them all the time. My brother eventually decided to buy the gun through buds guns and have it shipped to Skyraider Arms. Before placing the order he called Skyraider to verify for a second time; again they quoted him $25. Upon arrival the told my brother it would be a $150 transfer fee since he didn't buy the gun through them, on top of being incredibly rude to his face. I definitely won't be doing anymore business with them.

100% sure, I was there. The guy raised it to $150 transfer fee because he was angry he didn't buy the gun directly from them, after quoting him $25 transfer fee over the phone and in person from Bud's Guns.

No my brother refused to pay that and told him to ship it back. My brother called Bud's Guns when he got home and told them what was going on. Bud's guns called Skyraider Arms and the guy at Skyraider told Bud's Guns he had agreed on the $150 transfer fee ahead of time.

So did the dealer mail the gun back? What is he charging to do that as the paperwork is almost the same?

It's going to be $25 to ship it back and $25 to ship to a new FFL. It's unfortunate but better than giving Skyraider Arms a dime IMO.

Use Alpine Range and Guns...I live in Mansfield and have bought a bunch of guns from them and I have gotten several items FFL transferred to them from Bud's.

Chris is the guy I use for everything....also, they will order you any gun they can get through a distributor.

They are just on the West side of Mansfield out off Dick Price Rd.

I may have to send them an email and ask how much for a transfer. Then respond back something sarcastic like "are you sure you won't charge me $150?"

He should have just refused the package. Buds will cover the shipping back. Then reordered if.

Thanks for the info.

I won't do business with a certain pawnshop in Decatur because when I asked them to receive a firearm from an individual for me, they refused on the grounds that it would be illegal. I know better.

When a merchant refuses business honestly on the grounds of profitability, that's fine. But when they lie and deceive, I'm done with them.

He did refuse the package, but since Skyraider Arms is not a preferred FFL with Bud's Guns there's either a 10% restocking fee on returned items or buyer covers shipping both ways. So what it boiled down to was either pay the $150 transfer fee to a crook or pay $50 shipping both ways and $25 to another FFL and wait another 3 weeks. The only reason he used Skyraider Arms in the first place was because it was the closest place to us and they had met in person and a had a verbal agreement on $25.

I noticed that there is an email address on that website. A bunch of us THFers should email them and tell them that we heard what they did to txhunter89 and that greed costs them thousands in business because none of us will ever do business with them because of it.

Honestly that would be awesome. It's funny that my brother and I, as well as a few friends and family members were all going to do a CHL class through him, but not now. He lost a lot of money right there. As a business owner, what is more important.... Someone wont stay in business long if that is how they choose to operate.

Just curious...but did your brother offer to let them to match Bud's price?

Still IMHO if they said it, they should've honored it!

Yes, what it came down to was the out the door price, which was $150 due to sales tax. After everything was discussed he told my brother if he decided to order it through Bud's gun's to consider this a face to face agreement and it would be $25 transfer fee. Rather than refuse to do the tansfer then he led my brother to believe he'd accept the transfer.
