What would you include in your buttstock cleaning/tool kit for an AR 15. If you don't have storage in the rifle itself, what do you carry with you to the range or hunting.

Go by CTD in Ft Worth and pick up one of their M-16 rifle cleaning kits.

It's what I carry to the range with me. I have the cheap one. The OTIS is nicer and easier to carry

Unless you're playing 3 gun or in the service wait until you get home

If you shoot certain ammo, you could end up with a stuck case in the chamber.

The rod can be screwed together and used to knock the casing out.

I take a bore snake and leave it at the camp. Run it trough once if I shot the gun. Then clean the gun at home.

It is far more important to be able to hit the target than it is to haggle over who makes a weapon or who pulls a trigger.

Thanks for your thoughts everyone. I just purchased a buttstock cleaning kit and an Otis basic cleaning kit from CTD.

Can't remember the last time I ran anything down the barrel on my AR except bullets.

That's not true for all barrels. Depends on the barrels and your loads. Factory barrels, sure, the fouling helps. Hand lapped custom barrels can be more accurate when clean. I just remove carbon, not copper.

I don't take cleaning stuff to the range unless I am breaking in a new barrel.

I do take a - small - tool kit.
