Well my uncle lost his lease last year down in Mason and found a new one on the south side of Stephenville. He's been pretty depressed about it because he used to see 20-50 deer everytime he sat in the stand in Mason, and this year he has hunted his butt off every weekend and only seen 3-4 deer total! Well he took his son with him this past weekend and they arrived at the lease at around 11 a.m. After putting their stuff away they headed out to the field to try a little rattling. After a few minutes a buck pops up in the brush and all my uncle can see is tines sticking up. He makes the only shot available which was a 75 yard neck shot and the buck drops in his tracks. Needless to say my uncle isn't feeling to depressed anymore about his new lease. The buck is a mainframe 8 point with matching 2" stickers off his G2's. I'll post the gross score this afternoon if you guys want to take a guess. Sure there are bigger deer in North Texas, but you won't see to many 8 pointers that are bigger.

Well you guys are pretty dang close. He is planning on having him scored officially for the Texas Big Game Awards, but we put the unofficial tape to him and got 153" gross. We scored another deer a few years ago before he was officially scored for TBGA and got within a 1/2", so we should be pretty close. Here's another picture, and yes I know there are plenty of big deer just south of stephenville, but for a low fence, free range buck he is pretty good!
