Well the AIr Force has had me in ND for 2 years now. A lot of friends and family don't understand how I cope with 20 below zero temps and long harsh winters. Well as you can see I find pretty good ways to manage. This past year was the best hunting season of my life so far. The best part is it ended on Christmas evening with my first buck which was also my first bow kill.....I find it hard to complain about the weather......

Also the deer was taken on public land. No blinds, stands, feeders, or fences. Just scouting and sitting under trees. I must have hunted over 50 times this archery season. It was hard work. Not easy to sit in -10 degrees with wind chill -25. We never once used a guide or paid to hunt on private land. All open land and 100 percent hard work. So rewarding for a pay off like that

Are you at Minot or Grand Forks? I spent 3 years at Minot AFB, and you are right the fishing and hunting is pretty darn good.

Dark house pike spearing. One of the coolest things I've ever done. YouTube and it will explain it.

Lake Darling? Or at the Garrison dam lake?

Lake Darling was our hang out, there was a gravel pit close to the road to it, that was a party location. The lake had some pretty good ice fishing, but we also used it for racing our cars on the ice.

The first picture with the perch is lake darling. We spend a lot of time on the ice there.

Looks like you've been making the most of your time there. The dark house spearing is very cool. My BIL was spearing one time and a dark animal came jumping up through his hole and made him almost sh!t his pants. Turns out it was a black lab that jumped in a hole when he saw a northern while spearing with his owner. They were about a 100 yards away from his spear house and the dog after chasing the fish under water got disoriented and came up through the hole in my BIL's house.

Very nice buck and you have certainly been wacken and stacken the ducks. Outstanding. up
