Had a couple good hunts for late season in Southeast Texas. Mainly spoonies and gadwall but they decoyed really well. Not sure what they are eating in these old dead cattails but whatever it is must be like crack to them. We started drawing the water down a week ago and I guess it exposed a lot of new food. The water is over knee deep but there is about 6 inches of vegetation on the bottom I guess they are getting some food out of. Hunted the same little pot hole 2 days in a row and shot 3 limits saturday and 2 sunday.

Saturday

Sunday

The goal was to shoot 12 bull spoons on Sunday but we ruined that very early on in the morning on a pair of gadwall. I'm going to let the field load up again this week and go for a spoonie slam this saturday if we don't go to oklahoma to kill those other greenheads.

Nice, my guess on food would be bugs. Invertebrates are a big source right now when most grain and seed bearings plants are dead and rotten.

Whatchoo need is a paper mâché sheep. Birds are fooled by artificial livestock.
