The only guide I have ever hunted with is Jeff Elder, and that's the only guide I'll be hunting with unless A.) He gets tired of me missing birds B.) gets tired of me shooting his decoys C.) gets tired of me tearing up his duck blinds.
He's a ton of fun to be around. He scouts out places and does his damndest to put you on birds. He does 99.9% of the work. He has a bad azz dog. His price is very resonable. He will teach you anything you want to know about duck hunting.
What else is there?

What else is there? He could use some good looking girls in bikinis to clean the ducks and fetch beer, but I think that would be too much to ask? Walter

If you can find a personable guide with good places and that doesn't over shoot them, it would be worth it to only go with him all year. I know I spend a lot of money on gas/etc while scouting and not to mention what I spend on decoys and toys each year. I thought about doing this and making a deal with a guide to do like 15 to 20 hunts a year for a discount. Just haven't pulled that trigger yet.

the thing about baiting is, even a rookie hunter could have a 170 bird season if they bait holes

You could prolly find a young guide starting out that would do that. Most established guides have enough business they don't need to discount hunts to fill spots

I expect a guide to take charge of the hunt. AKA not let two kids yell and scream the entire hunt and point there guns at the other hunters. (Still bitter about my goose hunt) lol.
