sorry for all the meat questions...but I'm planning next falls hunt and really want to shoot something the entire family will enjoy eating. we LOVE axis and elk meat. we use ground meat more than anything. anyone with experience eating wildebeest meat?

my wife doesn't like white tail. she doesn't like gamey meat at all.

It's not gamey at all. I had steaks grilled on a open pit and they were as good as beef.

Learn how to properly brine soak your meat and you won't have that complaint anymore. My wife was the same way but after I started doing that whitetail became the vast majority of red meat that we eat.

I prefer wildebeest steak to beef the sausage is great the jerky is great it definitely beats elk no matter how its cooked and axis it just depends. Chicken fried axis is probably better but the steaks don't compare. I eat a lot of steak just because its my favorite food and of all the steak I have had wildebeest is the best. Ground wildebeest is pretty good but I can't tell much difference in ground meat when its cooked the same.

Eland tastes as good or better than any meat and at current prices is the best value of any animal. That said, you won't be disappointed with wildebeast.

taste is very much like beef, I just wouldnt over cook it.

I'm not trying to be subversive here, but blue wildebeest steaks were not edible for me. Tough, was like chewing leather. I ground most of it up to make burgers...
