I recently picked up 6 of these, and I like them a lot. Do you all think these will go on sale any deeper since it is the end of the season, or will $60 be the lowest they go?

$10 a decoy for foam filled is probably the cheapest you'll see.

Why do you like the foam filed ones?

I did not see this price. I saw the for $80 foam filled, and more $ if they were flocked.

duckboy - I like the foam filled in case they get shot. I guess I've bought into the idea that the foam filled will last longer (right wrong or otherwise). If it means I have to spend a little more, but they will last a good bit longer (or indefinitely), then money well spent.

Plus, I wanted decoys of different sizes. I would like 6 Higdon magnums or Battleships, eventually, but I wanted some medium sized ones first

BTW, the Higdon Standard-size Foam Filled, which are a dozen for $50, are pretty nice. A few holes where they fill them with foam needed a little extra caulk to seal them up, but otherwise they are good to go for a standard size decoy

Get the weight of them and put that much in a backpack and carry it around along with the weight of your gun and layout and you soon see, foam is heavy and not worth it. If they get shot, they will soak up water and become even heavier.

I agree. Most of the time, shot holes are not what sinks a decoy, as they are all above the waterline. The majority of mine that ended up in the trash heap are from cracks at the keel (dang slide-lock avery POS). Luckily they don't do em like that anymore. I have some decoys that I've been hunting for more than 10 years, and they are still in decent shape (plastic wise, have been repainted/flocked since).

I have a couple dozen Higdon decoys. I moved them over to my Bay hunting spread because I can't stand those POS. Last weekend I lost two of them. Well not really lost, I could see the weight failed to lock onto the bottom and the decoys were being swept away by the wind. On both occasions I was told "HEy we have to go get that decoy". I hate them so bad, on both occasions I replied with "Nope, freakin POS".

When I finish the posrch on the duck call making house I will probably hang them up on the outside of the house on the pporch as a decoration. I am done with them.
