My son wants a new shotgun for his graduation present. We are mainly upland as far as birds but there is the occasional duck and or goose hunt. He likes the a 400 xtreme. Any input is appreciated I have looked versamax Rem. Browning silver hunter, Benelli M2 and the win super x 3. Thanks
Dont tell me you shot the 4 point for the meat when there are does all around.

Have you cycled 2.75-3.5 loads through it yet?

I bought the A400 Xplor and liked it so much that I bough an A400 Xtreme in black. I have shot 2-3/4" for dove hunting and 3.5" for goose and sandhill crane and both functioned perfectly. Both of mine are KO (kick off) models and they have a very light recoil compared to benelli shot guns.

I bought an A400 extreme this August. I've shot hundreds of 2 3/4 dove loads and never had a problem cycling rounds. I bought the gun for duck season and it has done awesome. Haven't put 3.5 shells through it but I have no doubt it will do fine.

I got one Mid December...I went for the least recoiling gun I could find...I found it...I have had two shoulder repairs, and sold my O/U's to purchase this...the beautiful wood and deep blue barrels were hard to give up, but looking at them didn't make them any more than expensive gun art...enter the A400 with 28" barrel...I was smoking clays the day I got it with 1 1/8 loads like they were .410...got on some dove for the first time in 5 years and was deadly with it...swing took little time to adjust to...No it isn't a 101...but it has 3 shots as quick as you can shoot and it doesn't have a perceived recoil that wears you out at all..it is impervious to the elements, good weight, and great camo..I got Optifade and love it...the birds hate it...No hint of malfunctions...I clean my guns after every time I shoot, whether once or 200 rounds...just how I am, but I shot over 100 the first day and not a single issue..Get one if you want the best..

Beretta claims you do not have to clean the A400 for 10,000 rds. I have been selling all my benelli so I can buy more A400's. IMHO they are the best gun out there. My benelli would not cycle a 7/8oz loads. I have close to 750rds of 7/8oz shooting 5 stand with no problem.

I've personally witnessed one cycle an entire box of 5/8oz reloads meant for an O/U. Outstanding guns.
