Hey guys,
need your help. I have been loading Barnes TSX 130 gr for my savage 270 WSM. I am more than pleased with the rifle and load for hunting. I am getting low and have become extremely disgruntled with Alliant waiting on Reloader 19. I called Alliant and they were to say the least no help.
Does anyone have a recipe for Barnes that is a powder that is manufactured by someone else that I have a chance of finding?
Thanks for your help

I would think 4831 or 4350 would work well in the WSM.

I am pretty new to the reloading and enjoy it. Want to be careful I should have said I am running 65 grains of r 19 right now. I wouldn't change a thing if I had a choice but I am down to 2 rounds and its time for offseason hogs and yotes control.

Contact Barnes they will give you a good starting point for a replacement powder in the same area. The problem may be finding any other powder that is well suited for magnum calibers.

Hogdgon has a huge amount of info here:

http://data.hodgdon.com/main_menu.asp

I used 65.0grs of H4831sc in mine. Good cartridge.

Thanks Karnis,
That's what Barnes tech recommended also. Has very quickly become my favorite in the safe.

Hard for it not too. Good velocity, accuracy and moderate recoil. Have had several 7mm WSM's, one .300WSM along with the aforementioned .270WSM. All have been sold to fund other purchases. Too many rifles out there to have one of each so I sell and replace.

Just ask BMD. grin

BTW I also used RL25 resulting in high velocities and no pressure signs whatsoever.

I would love to use IMR 4831 as that's what I run in my 300 win mag. Any differences or have your tried theres in the 270 WSM.

IMR and H are very similar in burn rate. The Hodgdon is said to be somewhat more temperature sensitive but I've yet to have any real issues with the IMR variant.

Have just a little of it left. Most everything I use is now the Hodgdon variety-buy it by the keg.

IMR powders are fine. Grain or so faster than the H variety. Have at it.
