Good late season hunt last week in South Dakota.

52 birds in 3 days, 2 short of our limit for 6.
Hunted hard, and it never got above 20 degrees.
This shot was when it was minus 15 wind chill.

Was the first pheasant hunt for my yellow lab "Boone" and he did excellent. Had a good teacher in the 5 year old black lab.

It was a tough hunt as birds were very skittish, but it was a fun hunt and very rewarding to get on those ring-necks!

No bad days hunting

Who was that masked man?

Quail hunting is like walking into, and out of a beautiful painting all day long. Gene Hill

What type of cover were you finding them in with the snow?

Private - Northern part of the state

Birds were in tree lines and heavy cover, but we did push corn that was still up and found some birds in there.

Dad-burn! I thought I would freeze to death on my one trip to the Texas panhandle. I wouldn't stand a chance in South Dakota! Great pictures. Beautiful birds and dogs. I can't see enough of the person to tell, but he looks like he could be a little ugly to me. grin

Looks like cold but fun. We hunted in Kansas one time where it was -11 with the wind chill. That first push through a field was cold but you warm up real quick and start peeling layers.
