So I loaded up some 9mm 115gr FMJ Hornady and went to the range today. I loaded 15rds with Winchester AutoComp 4.4gr and 25rds with Hodgdon HP-38 4.5gr, all with a COL of 1.111. I shot 3 pistols, Berretta PX4 Storm, Springfield XD subcompact and a Berretta Nano. The rounds loaded with HP-38 performed flawlessly in both the XD and PX4 and accuracy was pretty good, but I did have a few FTF with the Nano. The Nano shot the AutoComp rounds flawlessly but neither the XD or PX4 would even cycle them, round would fire but wouldn’t eject. I’m assuming the load was to light for the XD and PX4? These were my first rounds to load and interested in hearing some of your suggestions and opinions. Thanks!

Probably a little too light of a load. How did the recoil feel? I prefer the lighter shooting loads for plinking. Less wear and tear on the gun any myself.

Yeah probably too light, as long as there aren't other issues.

I did work up the charge on both actually. I seem to be getting the best accuracy and feel with 4.8gr with the HP-38 and with 5gr of AutoComp. All of my pistols seem to shoot both loads well.

Check Hodgdon's reloading info website for good loads with those powders.

http://data.hodgdon.com/main_menu.asp

They give starting and max loads for those powder/bullet combinations.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Reloader, that is the site I started at. Great site. I went with the starting loads but they were a little to light for AutoComp to cycle my pistols.
