I like "The Creek". It's almost semi formal, definitely not a flip flop kind of place. The food I had was awesome.

The shell station aka "Riverside Grocery" Hwy 46 and main street has great BBQ

The hungry horse behind the courthouse is still open and is pretty good. come hungry huge plates.

For a short country drive you can go to the Welfare cafe for fine dining and Alamo springs cafe for one of Texas monthlys top five burgers in Tx ---Great burgers!

Po Po restaurant off of I-10 at the Welfare-Waring exit. Great food in a down home country setting. Check out their collection of plates from all over the world.
