I got a report that the pheasant around Hart are few and far between this year. I've been going up there for over 20 years and it looks like this years hunt my not happen. Does anyone have any info on the state of the birds in this area?

I was supposed to pheasant hunt around Hereford, not too far from Hart, the guide told us a late large hail storm took out most of his crops and a lot of birds. He is looking for other places for us to hunt, but haven't heard back from him yet. I know the quail population just south of that area, is pretty sad.

We're out her until Sun. Walked and drove at least 1/2 of the properties available today..

Saw 2 Roosters, 1 Hen and killed 1 Rooster.

There is a lot of land recently turned over so finding anything to shoot at has been ridiculous.

I'll post up results of tomorrow's hunt.

We're staying at the Comfort Suites in Plainsview if anyone else is coming out. Nice place but not for 139 / Night

We hunted plainview on saturday, on the Southside of town in the AM and the Northside in the PM. We saw one hen in the AM but in the afternoon we say alot of birds and very few hens.
On Sunday we hunted in Sunray what a great area, I would say that they have as many birds as last year judging by the hunt on Sunday.

We saw a few birds ~20 on the south edge of town in knee high cut Milo. Ended that drive with 2.

Hunted numerous "corners" the rest of the day to no avail. Probably saw 10 more birds all day.

THEY ARE DEFINITELY NOT IN THE GROWN UP CORNERS.

Only birds we killed were driven to the end of the Blockers.

Tomorrow doesn't look good at all.

Denny

Well we're done finished up with 14 Birds over 3 days with 11 Hunters. If anyone is going out i'll gladly provide the field #'s we hunted and to the best of my memory tell you how we hunted the particular areas.

All in all it was worth the 100 and if we would've had seasoned hunters we could've done better.

It is very hard to hunt circular feed plots without blocking roads or stopping points so the birds just run circles ahead of you.

Anyone have an effective way of hunting Circles?

when we hunted circled fields we used 2 trucks and the guys driving them to block we had 3 guys blocking (1 passenger) I dont think we lost a bird that way but you would need more people.

My friend and several others hunted sunray on sunday and did not see much either. I am planning to go back there for the last weekend may not see many birds though.

Well we hunted saturday around Hereford and just north of Dimmet. We hunted pretty hard and covered lots of good looking ground, but only saw 4 hens and 3 roosters. This is byfar the fewest birds we have had that I can remember. It was still a good trip and allot of fun, just wish there would have been more birds for the kids. Next year maybe.

We have always fanned across and walked it through just as you would a square field. Depending on the wind and how many people you have...its really not so desirable to walk a circle but if you have enough it can produce some results
