Ok So I am in a group of wildlife enthusiest. We were talking about hosting a Wildlife Expo. I was wondering what draws you to want to attend?
We as a group want to make sure that it is well planned as we can get it. Any info would be great.

Guns, Knives, Guides and Taxidermy. Not necessarily in that order.

Beef jerky, jellies and jams, replica Samurai swords...oh wait, that's the usual gun show. For a wildlife expo, I'd like to see clinics (varmint calling etc) and demonstrations, multiple exhibitors, such as feeders, lights, hunts, etc. with the ability to book a hunt or fishing trip on the spot, not just take home a business card or flyer only to throw away later. That likely means the hunt/fishing exhibitors will require internet access, and door prizes/raffles for knives, gift cards, and maybe a grand prize of a hunt/fishing trip, or one or two of each of some sort. Also would be nice if someone were to sell reasonably priced BBQ plates or sausage sandwiches with a small dining area. Lots of people show up late morning, make the rounds, and leave for lunch with the intent of coming back but don't. Need something to keep them there. All this might be a lot to ask of an expo, but just throwing ideas at you. Good luck and keep us posted!

You can't do much that hasn't been done really between gun shows and Texas Trophy hunter and Dallas Safari Club. I know when I go to any show I wanna see speakers and instructional things. I just called a buddy yesterday and he said hey you going to DSC show I said yes he says is there gonna be any of them half dressed women there. So I guess for some half dressed woman is important. I would strive for half dressed woman doing instructional speeches and you should be good.

To me, the Texas Trophy Hunter show is great but just too much to cover. I could spend days there. The Dallas Safari Club is cool, but too much of their stuff is of no interest to me. Too many people and really hard to get to a booth or place where you can actually discuss something you are interested in.
Maybe an alternative would be to focus on quality, comfort and information where you have a smaller number of exhibitors and provide a better setting for them communicate their messages and products while providing attendees with more access to quality companies. Maybe even having some sessions on wildlife management, conservation, etc., i.e., things you can that contribute to the quality of land, environment, animals and the hunting.

Something for the kids. Maybe a trout Pond, mining area, wildlife presentations. I go to The Allegheny Sport Show during the week to spend time talking to outfitters. Take my Daughter back on Sunday to check out the shows and stuff. Have something for kids, more people, more money.

I would contact the nearest University with a Wildlife program and ask if they would be willing to speak and have grad students present posters.

If the crowd is good that means the show is good. Hard to help a great crowd.
