How do you secure your 'truck rifle"?
I have an SUV, and would like to get a F-250 or similar in the future.
I am most concerned about any truck/suv rifle getting stolen. Also want easy access and easy ability to re-store the weapon.
Thinking either an AK, short action 20" barrel bolt gun or AR. Would want a solution that secures any one of the above.

OH YEAH! Wouldn't you (and the world) like to know!
Mostly it is secured with my pistol, which is used to fight my way to my rifle.

That was all just conjecture. I have no guns. I use a cast iron skillet for protection. Seasoned with LARD!
It hangs from my rear view mirror, so they all know I am dangerous.

Handcuffs.
Loop one end thru the trigger guard, and the other around the seat bracket, where it bolts to the floor.

I only carry an unsharpened stick to defend myself. Of course it naturally fell off the tree. I would never harm a live creature.

Umm..my truck rifle is secured by throwing a jacket over it if its still riding shotgun. If I'm running into a store it'll go in the back seat. It's not in the truck around Houston bc that's just dumb.

If ya want your " truck guns " stolen, just leave em in the truck, they will get stolen, along with the truck. BPS in Garland has trucks broken into and or stolen almost every day.

Times sure have changed When I was a kid in WV, it was still common to see gun racks, but I can also remember them being phased out because of DNR regulations about transporting an uncased firearm. I also remember folks never locked their vehicles, windows were rolled down, and keys left in the ignition. Now a days, folks will smash your windows to steal/pawn stuff to get 5$ worth of drugs.

Back in the 80's, I had a seat cover that held my 30/30. No one ever knew it was there. It was an old beat up 65 Chevy. Gun was worth bout as much as the truck. Haha!

I had one of the seat covers in my 78 ford. It had 2 slots for rifles and worked great. Also had a gun rack in it that worked great. Its a shame that in the newer trucks replacing any window in the vehicle would cost more than just about any gun you would normally put on a gun rack.
I keep a rifle under the back seat. Its a kit built AR that cost around $500 or so. I am not really worried about it as I have nothing on my truck that screams I own a gun. I.E. Browning, Colt, NRA, Etc stickers. My Jeep on the other hand scares me. I hate going anywhere unarmed but I have been to cheap to get something to really secure a weapon inside it.

Being from Corsicana I don't have the theft issues to the same degree as others. My two truck guns hang behind the front seat in one of those carriers you get from Cabelas. They are not worth much monetarily though. I do try to remember to take them out if I go to DFW. This time of year I am often guilty of leaving better guns in the backseat-I have my Ruger Red Label 28 gauge and my Mannlicher Schoenauer 7x57 in there now. This thread reminded me to take them out. So I guess you could say I don't secure them at all.
I learned long ago you can't reason someone out of something they don't reason themselves into.

In 1974 I bought a F100 ford. I put gun racks behind the seat. I still carry my guns there

I have a Ram 1500 crew cab, and the backseats have enough space behind them to conceal a rifle. They fold up for cargo space, which exposes the area behind them. I don't keep a rifle there, but I probably will at some point, at which point I'll probably secure it with a bike lock through the action and seat bracket.

I don't have a truck rifle, but I keep an inexpensive .40 in the console. Lock the doors.

I put the safety on and set the truck alarm.
It is far more important to be able to hit the target than it is to haggle over who makes a weapon or who pulls a trigger.

Didn't a THF member have 10+ guns stolen from his truck about a year ago?

I carry in my vehicle in case I need a gun (no chl for a couple more months) to defend myself, or to stop an active shooter if I can get back to my vehicle. Having my gun chained up in my car makes that much more difficult to do quickly. If time is of the essence, I like knowing I can open my console, flip off the safety, and start shooting.
