I'm going to be buying 3-5 new trail (game) cameras for this season and have been thinking about these two.

1st-Browning Special Ops (BTC-3) that has an 8mp camera.

2nd-Moultrie W-900ixt that has an 10mp camera.

Which one is the better camera and are both compatable with solar panels and rechargeable batteries??? My leases are 6-7 hours away and I need cameras that can take lots of pictures and have batteries that last several months.
What do y'all think??? Or is there better cameras for under $150.00 that will do what I'm looking for???

Look at the Primos 35 (not the ultra) Really good battery life and work pretty well for under $100.

I have the Browning...its good not great. I've owned several different brands of cameras over the years. I'd say the best for the money was the Bushnell trophy cam. It took beautiful pics and caught everything. I always had more quality pics on that camera than any other.

Moultries 990 and 880 does support solar panel and rechargeable batteries. They give around 5k pictures on 8 AA eneloops. I like moulties the best.

But If what you want is battery life the Covert MP6 and RED40 give you around 25k photos with the same 8 aa batteries. I like moultries more because covert cams have too fast pictures between bursts, they take like 4 pictures in one second ,,, which is not very good for feeders since you get the same picture three times. Moultires have around 1 second interval between the 3 pictures.

Moultrie has a solar panel with a 12v battery inside, that setup will give you battery forever.

I can't speak on the exact model your asking about but I have had a moultrie camera one of their solar chargers for a few years now it it has worked great. It's about 3 years old now. The night time picture qualit is declining but as far as reliability it's been great

I would say I have pretty good experience with cameras in this price range...

I currently own

1 Reconyx HC 600
4 Moultrie A-5's
2 Moultrie 990i's
2 Wildgame Micro Red 4
1 Cuddeback Attack
1 Bushnell Trophy Cam
1 Browning Spec Ops
1 Covert MP6
2 Primos 35s

I have previously owned many many more of the above cameras...

If money is an extreme factor, the Moultrie A5's are good. There is a 1 minute delay between pictures however which I do not like, although they do take good pictures for only $60. The other negative is they run on "C" batteries, which seem to run out fast. You can buy alot of these cameras though and cover a larger area.

If I had it to do over, and in the future, I will buy more Covert Cameras. Excellent pictures, excellent battery life, and from what I hear excellent customer service. The Bushnell Trophy Cam is very good also, but I have had a problem or two with it at times. The Moultrie 990i, has worked very very well for me.

I am not blown away by the Cuddeback like I thought I would be. I will never, and I repeat, NEVER, buy another Wildgame product. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE.

If I were to Rank them, in respect to "FOR THE MONEY", of the ones I have, I would say...

#1. Reconyx.... I know this is out of price range you said, but it is absolutely incredible..

In your Price Range-
1. Covert
2. Moultrie 990i
3. Bushnell Trophy Cam
4. Browning Spec Ops
5. Cuddeback Attack
6. Moultrie A-5
7. Primos 35's
8. Wildgame Micro Red 4

If you got any questions over any of these cameras let me know, and I will give you my input on each of them...

I have 3 bushnell trophy cams and 3 Brownings not much deference in performance.battery life is about the same range of sensor about even the only rock I could chunk would be that the bushnell camera sometimes hang on whatever time delay you put in. It will take a pic every 20 sec til the card is full.dosent happen a lot but does happen two or three times a season.

If it's not overkill then it's underachievement.

If can afford Reconyx, then do it. If not, a
Wise man would only buy Bushnell Trophy Cams or Spypoints

The Moultrie M880 and the Moultrie Solar Panel will last several years. I have the old version (M100) and it has been running for 3 years on the same solar panel and still going strong. I use them mostly for the plot watcher function and the take photos every 3 minutes all day/do motion sensing at night. I let them go for over a month at a time before swapping sd cards. I get pics of bucks in the food plots that I never see come to the feeders.

Don't buy the cheap Moultrie camera's....they take pics of grass and limbs waving in the wind.

I am going to start a fuss here.lol I have 8 cuddeback cameras and really
like them. I know the reviews are terrible on the internet but I have not
had any issues with them yet. I like that Cuddeback gives you an option
to upgrade your old or non-working camera for a new one for $100. Most of
my cameras are the Ambush which runs on AA batteries. I got my first one
in March and put new batteries in it in October and was averaging 200 pics
a week.

Most companies make good camera's and most of the problems people have are due to operator error (of course I am not talking about the sub $75 cams....talking about most of the $100 and up ones). With this being said, there isn't a "Yeti" type camera out there. Don't know if the technology isn't out there and it is too expensive to make. Seems like 2 out of every 10 cams made are junk. You just have to figure that out quick and swap them at the store/manufacturer. After you get a "good" one, they seem to last for 3 to 5 years if you don't tear them up. Throwing them in the back of the UTV and bouncing around all day is not taking care of them.....just fyi

I will take 4-5 130 usd cams over one reconyx any day.

Reconyx used to make sense when all cameras where crap. But now that we can get descent cameras for around 100 bucks Just doesn't add up.

Yes they are better, can't argue that, but not to pay 5 times more.

I bought my Reconyx used off of Archery Talk Forums. Was out for half of the season, and I paid $320 for it shipped. Worth every penny.

My coverts are the 2nd best I have ever had though!

To the OP, I thought I would give you some example pictures of Sub $150 Cameras...

Moultrie 990i- Advantages- I like it has barometric pressure and all, and it is very easy to work. It also has an Image Resolution Aim that you can see on the screen what you would be taking pictures of, pretty neat! Disadvantages- Buttons seem cheap. $150 Camera.

Bushnell Trophy Cam- - Advantages- WHen it is working, it take very awesome pictures.. Disadvantages- It has had ALOT of problems, updating firmware, etc.. Also seems to get alot of false images.. $175 Camera

Covert MP6 - Advantages- Everything! Easy to operate, super rigid build, Absolutely crystal clear pictures, doesnt have false images.. Disadvantages- Honestly haven't seen one yet.
I can get you these cameras for $115 each right now..

Moultrie A5- Advantages- Super Cheap, Takes Reasonable Pictures, Very Good Nighttime Distance. Disadvantages- Deer really seem to notice, takes C batteries which do not seem to last anytime, the minimum delay is 1 minute between pictures. This is a $60 Camera

I don't have alot of experience with cameras but did use them this past year. With anything it depends on what you want and money you want to spend. I have a Browning Range ops and primos 46. I like them both but prefer the browning. Its not too hard to use and pictures are pretty good (I would post some if i knew how). Downside is the range isn't the best for night time so pictures aren't as good(it will get deer but some pictures aren't enough to tell you anything except its a deer but this isn't a significant downside for my use) and some deer look at the camera so they do notice it but don't seem to run away. Primos is easier to operate (but the ease of operation is essentially the same for both). Pictures aren't as good but good enough. I wanted a $100 camera that would take good pictures and be mostly unnoticed by deer. Both of these camera accomplish my goal
