I have a Marlin 1895g stamped JM with a leupold 1-4x20 with a pig plex non illuminated scope. What is a resonable value of this rifle. I only ask cause I have seen some prices on gunbroker for the rifles alone with some serious reserves

The JM 1894's are getting insane on Gunbroker... I'd check out the completed auctions there to find what the 1895's are going for..

I checked gunbroker completed auctions, and the high priced JM Marlins were all the same two guns, from the same two sellers. They just keep relisting them over and over.

A JM stamped 1895G in near perfect condition will command a price of 525-600 if you actually want it to sell. I've seen plenty listed at 650-725, and they just get bumped and relisted. The stainless models (1895GS) sell for the same or maybe 25 more than the blued. I think there is more demand for the 45-70 over the 450,so depending on which one you have that could factor into the final sale price and/or the time it takes to get it sold. As for the scope, you could look at what you think you'd get for it separately from the rifle. A lot of guide gun shooters like peep sights and may not want to pay for the scope.

I think if you listed your gun and scope for 700-725 it would probably sell.

Just my opinion from handling and shooting several new model Marlins but a lot of folks bad mouthing the new Marlins are really trying to justify and pump up the value of the older guns. They refer to the new model Marlins as Remlins now that Marlin is in bed with Remington. Don't be fooled by paying the high prices they are asking for the old rifles. The new ones shoot just as well or better in many instances.

sadly not true, the remlins do not have near the same quality. freedom arms really screwed the pooch on this one. you guys can buy all the remlins you want..its a fine gun if you want to shoot 10-20 rounds a year, i personally want a hierloom quality weapon that will shoot all the ammo you can find in the next three countys...

I paid 500 for my jm stamped 1895g about 4 years ago. IMO, a scope on one of these is about as useful as tits on a boar hog. Gun should be worth no more than 600.

My buddy uses his for nighttime hog hunting with a lighted reticle scope under a feeder light, iron sights are useless in that situation. The Freedom Arms, aka Remlin guns, are trash when compared to actual JM Marlins, the quality is just not there. Yes, they will shoot, but so will a Jennings, High Point or Remington 710. I'm not bashing budget guns, I'm actually a big fan and I just bought a Citadel 1911 in 9mm, but my Citadel is NOT the same as a Colt, Springfield, Para, S&W, Ruger, etc...

Ok, so maybe there is one time when a scope would be useful. smile

A few months ago I sold my JM stamped 1895GBL w/Redfield 2-7x33 scope for $800 in about 2 hours. It was in meant condition, fired about 10 times & came w/1.5 box of ammo. That thing would put 3 rounds @ 100yds .75MOA!!!
