Can't believe it but I have been skunked two hunts in a row. Did anyone else have any luck this am?
Don't want to tell my wife this as she already thinks the deer hide behind trees when I get out here, but I am just selective. Tell her I am waiting for the right deer. My son and BIL have both taken bucks this year, he's coming tomorrow for a doe hunt. Just haven't been skunked two in a Row like this all season, and now of all times when they should be all happy grouping together and hungry.
I know the cows on the lease are starving...maybe that is why there are no deer....had to chase some if the cows away from blind and feeder this am. Oh to get on a place with no cattle!!

I've been skunked way more this year than in any of the last 3 years. Just been a really odd year. I kill my fair share between the two places i hunt, but im like you, more about quality mot quantity.

I have talked to seven hunters that did not see a deer this morning or last night. Something has them bedded deep on a large scale. Must be this upper level. Hope it breaks with the front.

I hope it is the upper level high that has them bedded and it breaks tonight. They "should" be moving tomorrow am due to the colder weather...this am was not near as cold as I thought it would be. Don't have much anticipation for tonight's hunt, but will be out there just in case.
Moved some cameras around at the lease as I think maybe my one feeder got hit while I was sitting at the other, but no pics to show for it. Last pic on that can was from 4 days ago but corn is fresh as of this am and not piling up. So I think camera is capoot. Switched another in there and will hunt that blind tonight. Scattering corn all Over the feeder pens to try and draw something in, can't do any outside though as the cattle would be camped on it. We'll see. Hope is all we have, hope that the next hunt will be the one.

Me too! Nothing in comanche this morning. Fingers crossed for this afternoon. For some reason, the afternoons have been good for us this year. Total opposite of last year.

Northern Mills Co. Walked up two young bucks Friday afternoon on the way to the blind. In two years I've never walked up on deer going to my blind. I thought for sure I was going to have a great weekend. They came back to the feeder around 4 and left almost immediately when they saw the goats headed their way. Goats didn't stay longer than 10 minutes. Nothing came back after that. Saturday sat four hours in the AM and four hours in the PM. Nada. I was really proud of my 7 yo, though. No complaining. Woke up this AM and the wind was 20-40mph with a wind chill in the teens…I couldn't bring myself to making him fight through the walk to the blind.

Ended up seeing three young bucks this am hunt in the cold wind . One was about half an inch from dying as he had a really weak point coming off his main beam, had it been much shorter I would have had my son take him as a spike.
Sitting now in anticipation of a good evening hunt. We'll see, could be a fun one but at the same time if it is fun it will be cold gutting in this wind! Hope that's the case!!

I hunt Hamilton county close to Evant and hunted Saturday, saw the fewest deer so far this season. Came home early.

Ended the season with another skunk Had cattle roll into the hunting area about 3:00, they moved off for a while, but they came back right around 4:45 and stuck around for about 35-40 minutes. The feeder and food plot were unmolested but the area was not. Not sure how much that may stifle deer activity, but it sure is frustrating. Oh well, there's always next year . Now the fun part (what part isn't fun?) starts where we get to watch them grow new racks and drop babies...all in due time!
