Hog panel under the feeder.
A buddy of mine says this will keep hogs from creating a hole under my feeder. I dont doubt that it would help.. just curious how deer react to it?

Reason I ask is because he mentioned it, and has the same problem, but never done it.

I would think if it was buried below the surface a little and well anchored it would deter routing.

You need to make the pen big enough so that a mature, wary buck will jump in. We have hog panels around our protein feeders and the bucks will walk around it, walk around it, walk off, get lured back by the protein, sniff the wire, and finally jump in. Of course, at times they just walk right up and jump in but many seem wary of getting caught inside something. I would think the bigger the pen the better.

Yes it works. Deer simply pick the corn up in between the wires....no problem. We had a huge boar that was digging under our feeders and toppling them. Hog panel and eventually a 30-06 solved this issue

Thanks for the reply, but I just meant putting a panel underneath my feeder, and staking it down.

Yes they work very well but you need to start with the panel when you put the feeder up. Make it to cover all the legs inside. Hogs are digging under feeder legs to get to the sour corn/water that is inside the feeder leg that is seeping out. If you have ever taken a feeder down to move is and been soaked by that nasty black soured water you will understand. The bottom of the legs are usually plugged with dirt so it seeps out of the end.

Try spreading out a little quickrete cement under your feeder.

Yep. Its always fun to soak your shirt in that mess. I started drilling a couple of drain holes in the bottom of the legs a few inches up. Insulation foam at the top works good too.

Try spreading out a little quickrete cement under your feeder. Or just poor a pad under the feeder. We did all our spin and protein feeders with them. Hog panel. Make a large pen. The deer will jump in.
