Anyone else use them? I got the idea from another forum. I just finished mine and put it up yesterday.

Yep, I have 3. I like the extra ground support they provide and a better climbing option. Not as mobile though.

How in the heck do you get up there to secure the top?

The pole on this one is 1.75" square tubing. Helo, see the ladder in the pic? Climb up there and tie the top of the stand off. It's not wobbly at all.

I thought the ladder was part of the stand.

They are two seperate pieces. It's very similar to a tripod, only different. One guy can set these up easily. There is less space required at the base, but it does require a tree to tie off to.

That ought to keep you from dozing off.

I don't get it. So, the ladder isn't the 'pole' of the pole stand?

No, the seat is mounted on a pole and you have a ladder to get up to it. Mainly a great set up for a bow hunter.

I see the 'pole' in the first picture now going up along the tree.

So what are the advantages over a ladder stand? I'm not following - why not just sit at top of the ladder and save materials.

Not knocking the idea, just trying to understand the benefits.

This is my first year to bow hunt. I have two ladders in place and both limit my shot opportunities due to being backed up against the tree. Standing up isn't an option because of over head limbs. With this stand, you're not seated up against the tree, you can swivel 360 degrees. I don't mind anyone second guessing the benefit as it works for my situation perfectly.

do you have any pics of the pole stand before you put it in the tree? that way all of us what aren't familiar with this setup could see the whole rig a little better.

I would be interested in seeing that also.

Here are some pics, they are just the "extensions" that give me 5 more feet.

The seat sits on top of the pole without the steps on it.

The bases have spikes to keep it from sliding.

Top of ladder

I'm not a welder, as evidenced from the pics. If you can weld, you can throw one of these together in no time.
