Where's the best place close to the metromess to shoot a new shotgun?

A buddy(non hunter) bought his son a 410 for Christmas. He asked me today where he could go shoot it... I don't even know where a good spot would be. Thoughts?

Thanks

If I might I would suggest my club the Poetry Shooting Club if you want a family style type of experience. We are no Elm Fork for sure and Elm Fork can be a bit intimidating for the newbie shooter. We have an automatic clay thrower and we book only one customer at a time so you will think you own the place. Again we are no Elm Fork and our prices are much more afforable so you can buy more ammo and clays.

So if you are looking for a very quite countryside experienbce to get your new shooter going we think you will be very please that you choose the Poetry Shooting Club.

Sorry, I'm in Plano but our shooters are in Dallas near Love Field.

Thanks for the responses.

Shooterwalter, I'll send em your direction. Thanks

Elm Fork. They can get busy but you can ask for a skeet range where you can throw yourself. That way you can slow down the pace and help teach the kid.

I'm going to preach a little now... Your friend may be setting his son up for failure. A .410 is considered an experts gun. I know experienced adult shooters can't hit anything with them. I know people think they are good for kids because they don't kick but due to the small amount of shot it's tough to hit a moving target and if the kid doesn't break a few clays (especially with other people watching)he might get disapointed with shooting quick.
Your friend may be better served getting access to some land and letting his son shoot some cans and melons to get used to the gun first.

Hunt Dog has good advice. I haven't been to Poetry Shooting Club, but from what I've read, they may be able to accommodate an outing like that (shooting melons and cans).
