I am wanting to buy a 22 pistol. I am looking at three different ones.

Smith & Wesson M&P .22 LR Rimfire Pistol - gets good reviews but hard to find extra magazines and they are expensive when you do find them.

Ruger® 22/45™ .22 LR Rimfire Pistol - gets so so reviews. Appears to be very difficult to break down and clean and put back together.

Ruger® SR22™ .22 LR Rimfire Pistol - gets good reviews and can't find many negative comments. This is my first choice so far.

So can y'all offer some experience and input?

Thanks

I have both of the rugers, and both shoot very good. I prefer the 22/45 as it has a better trigger, IMO, and is a bigger gun. You do have to hold your mouth right to put it back together, but if you follow instructions in manual it is not a big deal. Dont think you would go wrong with either of the rugers, no experience with the s&w.

I have owned several Ruger 22/45s and they are great guns. However I prefer the Buckmarks....just a personal thing

I love my 22/45 its a great reliable lil pistol yes taking it apart is a little tricky but once you get the hang of it, its not bad at all. Its well worth it though for the accuracy you get, the 22/45 lite is really nice.

Once you understand how to deal with the hammer and the hammer strut while putting the Ruger back together, it's really a piece of cake.

Check out the Colt 1911-.22. It is the same weight and size as a 1911 and they shoot lights out.

I have the 22/45 and the M&P 22, I like the Ruger but love the S&W. Zero muzzle lift and can quickly empty a magazine into a coke can at 15 yards. Smoothest and best shooting semi 22 and eats everything. Also, the accesories that for a full size 9 will for this

I've shot the 22/45, nice and accurate. I own an SR22. It is nice, light and reliable which is just what I wanted. Will say the SR22 is a small, light hand gun with a short sight radius which doesn't lend itself to be overly accurate/consistant when I shoot it at greater distances like 20 yrds. Not saying the pistol isn't accurate, just saying I'm not accurate with it...

I've owned a Ruger 22/45 that was stolen. Bought a BuckMark and prefer it.

I've owned/shot all 3. The Ruger's get the nod.

I had a 22/45 and it could be picky on ammo. I now have the Ruger SR22 and I like it much more. Eats everything I throw at it, pretty accurate, super simple to take down and clean. It also carries well due to small size and light weight.

Two of my buddies on the lease went out and bought them after shooting mine.

Out of the three you listed I would get the SR22.....

I also really like my GSG's

I'm a MkIII 22/45 fan. Look at the various models and choose the one that works best for you. Lots of mods/aftermarket enhancement stuff available. The Lite now offered in black is my next purchase, or one of 'em anyway LOL

The breakdown issue gets easier as it loosens up and you understand it better.

Can't go wrong with Buckmarks.

I like the SR22. Haven't shot the others mentioned.

Stay clear of the Sig Mosquito. Neat lil' pistol but hates most common ammo.
