Gonna start reloading since I just got a 6.5 creedmoor. What is the best starter kit to get? I have nothing but a couple old books from my grandpa.

Any and all help is appreciated

I just started reloading about 8 months ago and I bought the RCBS Rockchucker Supreme kit and I love it. Quality and customer service can't be beat.

I would also recommend you buying a few more manuals for the 6.5. Hornady and Nosler book are good.

RCBS, Lman, Hornady and the Lee cast press are all good quality, with the Lee expect to replace the scale.

the Hornady and Nosler have data for the Creedmoor another good resource book to have is ABC's of reloading.

Might take a look at the links on the stick some good info there

Cabela's offers some good free reloading classes. Kinda of info-commercials but heavy on info. the Allen store class is Tuesday night at 7

If I had to start over I would not buy a kit. I would buy a good press and the other items you need to start. I learned that they hard way and have replaced everything that was in the kit. It would be best to see a few peoples setup and see what works and doesn't and go from there.

I'm gonna get flogged for this, but! You don't have to have new manuals. www.hodgdon.com has all the bullet weights you can come up with, and possible powders to use. For the Creedmoor H-4350 is the powder of choice, if you can find it, and the 140 gr. A-max is the bullet of choice. When you have questions ask in this section.

Oh! and RCBS is very good equipment.

I bought the Rockchucker Supreme kit and still use everything that came with it although I've added a lot of things.

You just can't buy the components individually and not spend more. I've added a Lyman's turret press and extra turrets that has saved tremendous time loading quantities of hand gun ammo. Still use the Rockchucker for rifle ammo.

Just do your homework and get what is best for your individual needs. With the name brands, it's hard to go too far in the wrong direction.

Kits are okay for getting started, but as you gain experience you'll develop preferences and figure out what suits your own needs best. You'll add stuff and you'll eliminate some if the stuff that comes in the kit. Buying a quality kit in the first place will help you sell off the stuff you decide to replace.

I bought an RCBS kit to start with, I didn't know if I was going to like it or not. At the time I knew if I got into it I would want to upgrade. Looking back if I was to do it again, I would probably pick up a used rcbs rockchucker, get a new charge master, cheap tumbler, set of dial calipers from cabelas, and a power trimmer and be done with it. This is what I have and use now, minus the power trimmer and it works well. Loading info can be found easily on line and the basic processes of loading should not have changed since the manuals you have and can also be found online. Do some reading then get what you need and get started, there are things that will be fuzzy until you actually get hands on with it.

Another vote for the rcbs supreme kit. That's what I started with and still use most of it. Bought calipers, trickler, and case trimmer and I'm still using most of what came with the kit.

Ordered my rockchucker supreme master kit from cabelas on Monday before the $50 rebate deal from rcbs expired. With the the darn holiday it won't be here until Tuesday. I think the kit is the way to go then upgrade as u see fit.
