I'm just looking for the best way to maintain my fenceline. I want to keep grasses and other vegetation cleared from around my high fence to better monitor it for crawls. I have a sprayer that I can put on the back of a four wheeler, but what's the most powerful stuff I can get and where can I get it?

Grazon is great but as much good as it does all Ive had it do is make the dirt softer and easier for them to dig under. Ive just used a smaller amount of it now and it seems to work well and the roots still stay in and keep the fence line stable. I have only had one new dig in the last 6 weeks and the dang skunk was mad and alive in the snare.

Follow this recipe, works well:

Per 100 gallons of solution
1 Gallon of PasturGard
1-2 quarts of 90% Non-Ionic Surfactant
1 ounce of Metsulfuron (Cimmaron Max, Ciramet, Clean Pasture, etc..)

Do not spray on your oaks!! try to stay just out of dripline and you will be fine

This will severley burn or kill grasses but to control grasses, you may add 1-2 gallons of glyphosate

Well, I'm not necessarily wanting to make it easier for them to dig, but I just want to maintain the fence and take down grasses as well so I can just fly by and check snares and old crawls.

Where can I find Grazon? And how often are you having to treat your fence line?

You have to have a valid pesticide license to purchase Grazon. Also Grazon is a broadleaf weed killer and will not kill the grassy weeds if that is your intent. I would use a broad spectrum grass and weed killer like Roundup. Small trees and shrubs are a different matter but there are products for those applications also.

call your county extension agent. He should know what works best for the flora in your area.

I also would use the roundup for total kill and I always add a good amount of Diesel.

If you are using snares, I think you're going to make it less effective ridding all the vegetation though, to easy for yotes to find other routes through the fence. They almost always take the easiest route.

Diesel mixed with used motor oil......Well it was good when I was a kid anyway, and you didn't get throwed in jail for polluting. LOL

Nothing grew back and the dirt hardened like concrete after a couple applications

ya i agree, you need to contact your local county ext agent, he can make recomend what you can use. he is more familiar with the type of vegitation in your area and what would work best. They make a product that can kill just about all crap stuff and save bermuda but may not be labeled for grazing, you will get drift in to a pasture. Some of the good stuff you have to have a spray lic to buy, you should be able to get most products at the feed stores.good luck
