I would like to put a scope on my Yugo 48 and was looking into the option of drilling/tapping for a scope mount. Is there anywhere in Dallas that does such? I don't have the tools at home to be able to do it myself. How much would such an operation cost?

Have you researched any "no drill" scope mount options?

I looked into the scout no drill mounts, but my main problem is I've never had a lot of luck with the scout scopes (as well as a scout style mount on a mosin that wasn't the most stable) so I think I'd prefer to do the drill and mount

Darrel Harrelson makes excellent scout mounts. Not sure if he's still selling them or not.

I'd go with Zrak mounts, rings, and scope to make it "authentic" as possible.

Does anyone have any experience with the scout mounts that replace the rear sight? Are they stable at all?

With how good of shape the rifle is in I think I'd prefer to keep it all original and just swap out the rear sight rather than having it modified if the scout mounts are stable

You might consider Mojo irons as a conversion. No optic, but you can restore it to original at any time. Consider keeping the irons.
