Wow. Ya, I definetly stand behind my sentiments I said earlier. Sounds like no "accident" at all, sounds like attempted murder to me. Hope they pay dearly for this.

This GW is a stand up guy, he helped me nail some hog dog scum poachers at my land a while back.

Can you elaborate? They came to him, and LEFT him wounded? That's even worse than "accidently" shooting, that's attempted murder.

I hope that the strongest example is made of these two. The full weight and might of the Texas judicial system hammers these criminals into the deepest and darkest prison hole ever created.

The reasoning being that too many take for granted their rights as hunters, firearm owners and abuse it.

There should be NO BOND for these two. Out of state residents with a self-admitted history of fleeing, running away. Lock them up. They left that Game Warden out there. Which is the real kicker. I cannot believe someone would dare even fathom that.

I believe they should throw the book at them. But one thing that has not been said is if they heard the GW say he was shot. I can see the Def Attorney working that angle to lower the charges.

HnF likes this one!

A prayer was said when this happened and it continues each day for his satisfactory recovery and his family's well being.

I just saw this in the linked article,
Quote:
Fried has been with the department since June 2009 where his duties include responding to hunting emergencies. The 31-year-old has an outpouring of support at the hospital and the community sending prayers online.

You can bet the THF is leading the way in the prayers. Adding in mine too. All officers are never really off-duty, and is why I have the respect for them that I have. GW, LEO, take your pick.

Get well Warden Fried.

Not being 100% sure of the target is a mistake that even the most honest person can make if they drop their guard. And it's one that can changes lives and families forever. And unlike this case, in most cases the victim is someone known by the shooter, such as another family member or friend.

Stupid and negligent things happen all the time but I just can't understand shooting someone. I have hunted all my life and seen numerous people walk towards me at dark some expected and some not. NEVER and I mean NEVER have I ever thought it looked like a deer, hog, coyote, ext. if you shoot a target you are unclear if you are an absolute idiot. PERIOD

I agree. You hear of these things happening all the time, but it's unfathomable to me how this mistaken identity thing occurs.

Hunter fatigue and an obsession to shoot something can be a deadly combination. And in some cases, it could be a fear of things that go bump in the night.

Forget about trying to avoid spooking an animal that you don't need and always carry a light. I've never known or see an animal that carried one. And when it's too dark to see with the naked eye, never use your high-dollar scope to make up for the difference.

The latest I have heard locally is that they did hear him screaming for help and that is when they jumped on their 4 wheeler and high tailed it toward the house........There are pictures of Chris sitting up in his hospital bed and smiling on the "Cooper Review" Facebook page. I'd post it here but I'm not sure how all that copyright stuff works on this.......

Throw the book at the two idiots. Glad to see the warden recovering.

I hope we will hear the whole story at some point, but have to wonder....And this goes beyond thinking a grown man walking thru the woods is a deer....... Did they think the warden passed antler restrictions?

As spoken earlier in the thread, I have hunted all my life, and never ONCE have I mistaken a human for anything other kind of animal. Never once have I had my sights on anything I thought was an animal, then realized it was a human.

Then these two left the woods, never looked for their prey, didn't hear the warden proclaim, "you shot me". These two knew they f'd up and ran, leaving the man to die. Or at best, shot at some unidentified animal with no desire to recover it. While the former is much worse, the latter is very good either.

Tolerance is the virtue of a man without conviction.

The end of the world began the day it was created, and life is a sexually transmitted terminal disease.

Chris is doing well, but not at home yet. Crazy how so much misinformation gets out.
