A distant friend of mine called me yesterday and asked if I wanted to buy his Rem 700 in 30-06. He had lost his job and was selling stuff to make it through life. He brought me the rifle and it was almost NIB. He had shot 10 rounds at the range to sight it in and hunted with it two times without shooting it. It came with a lower model Bushnell scope, a hard case, soft case, and 30 rounds of ammo. His price - $400.
I bought it and told him I would store it in my safe for 3 months. If he got back on his feet in that time I would sell it back to him again for the same price. But after that I would consider it sold.
coffee spelled backwards is eeffoc. I don't give eeffoc until I have my morning coffee.

DRY FIRE PAWN SHOP!!!! You did a great thing for your friend in need.
There are those who read of what others have done, then there are those like me who do what others read about.

Good on you. Stuff like this is called being a true friend and a decent human being.

Way better than just loaning money. No one feels screwed if it's never paid back.

Give him right of first refusal if you ever sell the gun and put it in your will to go back to him.

I did the same thing for a friend many years ago. Sadly, he never paid me the money back.

You did a good thing.
