So is 22 ammo still a hot commodity?

Looking locally for a brick of Aquilla Super Colibra and not only can I not find any but almost no 22 anything to be found.

Midway is out with n backorder available.
CTD has a brick for 89 bucks which is crazy and we wouldn't buy from them anyway.

It ain't easy being me.

I know it's been a while since you could walk out with a 555BX. for $22.00 I still am good for now on 22's but when it comes available again I have a spot picked out for a few cases this won't happen anymore and if it does I'll sell it and buy a new truck..... Kidding, I'll take a trip to Hawaii, Still Kidding.

Don't get it, especially when I can now get any other caliber. You name it. I was fortunate enough to get 5250 rounds a year ago before Sandy Hook tragedy. Just been hanging on to it. Will probably shoot a 1000 rounds at the range after deer season. Need to get skills back with my competition pistol. Been too long!

I think a lot of it is people buying and hoarding ammo. I talked to a guy at a local store, and he said he only puts out 1 box at time. If some one buys it, he waits until the customer leaves before he puts out another box. He said before he started doing hat he sold out within an hour after a shipment arrived. He said he has already pegged most of the bulk buyers, and is "out" of ammo if sees them drive up.

Bullet trap in Plano on Ave. K has a bunch I think. I was there a few days ago looking for 22WMR and they had a whole shelf of it. Its in the 50 round packages and I have no idea of prices. Call Ahead.

I know where I can get it just not at a price I'm willing to pay for it. He still asking 50-60 a box and I guarantee you I won't buy from him ever again because of it.

There was some in the classifieds for the inflated price of 10 cents a round.

There is a lumber yard in Jacksonville that has tons of .22 ammo. Only problem is they want $75 a brick for them.

Problem with selling personal ammo is you don't know when, if, or how much it will cost to replace it. Sort of like the little red hen and storing for difficult times. I was in a local store before Xmas, Rem 525 boxes were $55 and they sold out. That is .10/round plus tax, but when can it be replaced.

My wal-mart gets it nearly daily still and sells at regular prices. You still have to get there kind of early but dont have to be there when it hits the shelf. Academy has it too. I got 2 bricks there least month for normal price at about noon and they still had a few on the shelf.
It is NOT impossible to get a regular prices anymore and you dont have wait in lines for it either.

If you are that worried about replacing it then ya shouldnt sell what you have.

Some people can't drive to Benbrook for ammo and others have to work in the morning.

This ^^

San Antonio stores are breaking up bricks and selling them for $7 for 50. This is craziness IMO, but having a business degree, I get it, but ain't happy about it.

A brick used to be a 1000 rds, but has been reduced to 550 in most cases

You dont have to drive to Benbrook. I have stopped at random WMs all over Tarrant co (and surrounding co) and up to Gainesville. They all have it.. .....though I admit it dont last long usually.

I too was told that the local hardware store in Jacksonville had some, so I went in to get a couple boxes .22 ammo for my son so he could shoot his new 22 that he go for Christmas.
I only had about 25 rounds, since I haven't shot my 22 in a long time
I almost s--t myself when they told me they wanted $9.95/box of 50!!!!!!
I slid them back over the counter and politely told them they can keep them.

I've spent my last dollar in that store.....and I have spent a lot of them in there!

I just don't understand all the ammo whores buying up 1000's of rounds at a time so they can sit in your collection???

We found some at a fair price and I watched my little guy have a blast with his new 22 all afternoon.

I decided after last time when things went crazy that everytime I see it, I will buy it. And for me that goes for 9mm, 223, 22, 45 and a few more. Just one box each time I'm in the store. It's added up to a lot of ammo but it wont go bad.

BTW around Christmas 22 has always been hard to find...every kid needs a 10/22 and a brick under the tree at least onceup
