I was born in 1974. I started hunting and fishing at the age of 4. My dad always made sure that we had a place to hunt. In 1993 I harvested my largest deer "a Hill Country 9 point". In 2000 I stepped away from hunting to compete in Bass fishing tournaments with my brother. Through tournament fishing I have met some dear friends. In the Spring of 2008 I met Coach Roberts while practicing on Lake Buchanan. We began to take fishing trips not long after and I learned that he was co-owner of The Lonesome Doe Ranch in Duval, County with his brother and The Ready Family. In the Spring of 2011 I met Tyson (www.tysondever.com) at a tournament on Lake Belton. In the fall of 2011 we started taking fishing trips also. I quickly learnt that he liked to hunt as much as he liked to fish. I called Coach and asked him if he had any cull hunts available. He said, "They have a big 6 that Tyson could hunt." We booked the hunt for mid-Dec. This would be my first hunting trip in 12 years. We hunted on stand for 15 hours that weekend for "The Big 6" without ever seeing him. Tyson ended up harvesting a mature 8 point, which was his personal best. At the end of the 2011 and the 2012 I asked Coach about the "The Big 6". He said, "Still alive, but now he is a 7." I called Coach up at the beginning of the 2013 to see if I could have the chance to hunt "The Big 6". I arrived on Dec. 21st and my dad arrived on the 22nd. We had never seen the deer so, Mr. Ready and Coach showed us a short video. Coach felt like our best chance was to hunt a stand they call "100 acre". Mr. Ready, Dad, and I headed to "100 acre" at 4:00 p.m. There was little deer movement at all. Feeder cut on at 5:00. Same story. Mr. Ready looked at me and said, "boy looks like Coach sent us on an adventure." At 5:40 p.m. I saw "The Big 6" run across the sendero at 150 yards. He was gone as quick as he appeared. That was the 1st time I had ever seen him in on the hoof. A few minutes later a few doe and a busted up buck showed up at the feeder. Then in the edge of the Sendero I saw him walking toward us at 100 + yards. Mr. Ready confirmed that it was him indeed. As the sun was setting on The South Texas Brush Country I knew that I might finally get a shot at him. He turned to posture at the broken up buck and Mr. Ready gave me the okay. The quest for "The Big 6" was over. One of my first deer since 1993. The largest ever (140 3/8). Surrounded by friends and family, this is a moment I will never forget or take for granted. Thanks to The Ready and Roberts Families.

Sounds like a great story and deer, hopefully you can figure out the pictures. You can either do it through photobucket or they have a way on the site now as well.

Thank you Justin T. for posting. 2 years ago it was a 6 when Tyson was hunting it. That is when we named it the "Big 6". Grew #7 last year.

target1911 thanks for posting. The picture is taken Dec. 2011. This was the hunt that started the quest for "The Big 6." This is the 8 point that Tyson took after we never saw the 6. Tyson, Coach Roberts, and I. Tyson told me about THF 2 years ago and have been reading ever since.
