Well my brother and I have kinda started a new thing on Wednesday nights, after church and after the kids are in bed we go hog hunting. We have been on a roll and tonight was no different. As we were about to pull in the gate something caught my eye in the field, we stop and sure enough around 40 head of hogs was already out in the field. We parked and made our way to them. We got two big hogs out away from the big group and closed the distance to around 15 yrds. About the time we were both in range with good shots the wind swirled and one of the hogs grunted and moved on making the remaining hog spooky. I had a perfect broadside shot so I drew and sent a arrow her way. "Thump" I hit her perfect, double lung she went maybe 75 yrds and was done. My brother made a move on another big sow and with the moon as bright as it was she kept getting nervous when he got closer than 20 yrds. Finally she had enough and started easing off, big brother sent one to her at about 30 yrds and hit her back in the flank but angling up into her. We never found his arrow or any blood but im pretty sure she wont go far. We are enjoying ourselves a little to much probably but man its fun sneaking up on them suckers and sticking them with the recurves!!!

That brings back some good memories. A friend of mine used to own a dairy back about 10 years ago. They would feed silage to the cows in long concrete feed troughs. Usually right after dark, the hogs would start lining up with the cows along the troughs. Keep the wind right and it was on.

Great times.

I shoot Bob Lee bows both recurve and longbows. As for arrows and broadheads I stick with Gold Tip 3555 with 125 grain magnus stingers. If I know im shooting at bigger hogs I will go to a stiffer arrow and a 175 grain 2 blade.

Clay,

Any chance you could post a picture of how you have your kill-light mounted to your recurve?

Thanks,
Dave

We use pony tail holders to mount our lights. I will post a pic when I get home.
