Getting ready to get a hunting sidearm.
For those that do carry one, what is it?
Thinking of a 1911 or an SA XD.

I use a chrome Rossi .357 snubnose. I load a couple of chambers with snake shot and the rest with HP. Could'nt find an auto that would cycle the snake shot reliably.

1911. It and a its' holster is always in the truck.

I usually always have my full size Dan Wesson 1911 when I am on my land. If not that then one of my normal carry guns. But I am a 1911 fan.

A Taurus Titanium .45 Colt. It weighs about 20 oz and fires a 250 grain Hornady XTP at 900 fps.

FN 5.7x28 21 rounds and the weight is nothing. Was an early contender for me but cost and ammo availability nixed it.

Just your deer rifle than. I've never heard anyone needing a sidearm unless your around bears or in Africa.

That, and to sever a brain stem of a critter that hasn't quite expired. The one time I had to pull my pistol was for this reason My hunting sidearm is a Springfield XD 9mm. Very reliable, and can be field stripped without tools.
