Are the chippewas pull on or zipper? I have a pair of lace ups but they are pain to lace up I'm thinking of the chips Anyone have problems putting them on or taking them off.

I have worn the pull on chippawas for years. They are easy to pull on once broken in. One word of warning...these are not hiking boots. Great for minimal walking to he stand. Mucho walking is no good.

Danner for snakes and walking. They can be in Wide.

I wear my Danner Pronghorns every time I'm off pavement. Picked them up during a 1/2 price sale about 5 years ago. Very comfortable, no break-in required. Like wearing a tennis shoe with a stove pipe attached to it. My one complaint is when I where them while driving the top of the boot bumps into the edge of the seat when I let off the clutch. If you drive an automatic that won't be an issue.

My great grandpas owned a pair of chippawas for 21 years and they still look brand new like he got them yesterday. He been bit by a hog with them on and it didn't do anything to the boot or him same thing happened with a few rattlers.

The lighter the weight the better IMHO. Laceup usually helps if you have to walk long distances. Years ago they sold some light weight snake guards you wore with heavy leather boots. One style was a flexible plastic you pulled apart and they snapped into place. There were also laminated guards- I think they had copper screening in the middle sandwich. Those old styles were light as a feather and good for quail hunting, etc. They could squeek a bit- so not so good stalking deer. Any real life snake bite stories- I'm told the old type cowboy boots (heavier leather) were good enough to be snake proof. I have a pair of old top stoves in heavy leather.

I have had Chippewa's for 3 years and love them. I have walked quite a bit in them on a quail hunt without problems. I also wear them deer hunting when weather is in the upper 30's or higher

I bought a pair of LaCrosse snake boots this year. They're lace up / zip up. Very comfortable to walk in and warm. They're only water proof 10 inches tho.

I wear Chippewa snake boots because they are the only ones that I have found that fit over my calves.

I've put hundreds of miles on my chippewas. At first they can be hell when you are breaking them in. I had to wrap my ankles with tape and wear thick socks cause they rubbed blisters (same thing happened to a friend with rockys). But now they fit like a glove and I love wearing them. I even hunted in ankle deep water for over 2 hours and my feet never got wet. I will only buy chippewas.

I've been wearing Chippewa's and like them alot. I have the waterproof model and it really helps with the dew on the bufflegrass. Agreed.

I wear both Danner boots and Chippewa boots regularly. My Chippewa snake boots are by far the most comfortable boots I own. I wear them sometimes 15-18 hours a day. Great protection against snakes, but also amazingly wonderful for cactus, mesquite, cat claw, horse crippler, etc. Little to no break in, all day comfort, and great protection. What more could you ask for walking through thick pastures all day?

I have never owned snake boots. Maybe its time to give them a try.
But I wonder sometimes if they might tend to foster a false confidence in the boot that displaces some of the usual caution in where you step.

Don't worry, you will still your pants if you run into a snake with boots on, but instead of risk of injury from the snake and from yourself by trying to get away, you only have to worry about injury from getting away
